This post is from from my other blog here I've been in a funk the last couple of weeks, not planning ahead, not wanting to cook, and consequently I've had vegetables rotting in the crisper and we've been eating out too much. Thank you for the inspiration to do better (we'll see if I can follow through with it next week.) |

This post is from from my other blog here Thanks, Amy.
I have a .PDF someone created back in the 90's of how they fed a family of 4 for a week on, like, $25. I love that old thing - it inspires me often. Every once in a while, we'll have a week like that and it gives me a boost. But do it too often and the peanut gallery revolts with food boredom.
I really appreciate you taking the time to comment! |

This post is from from my other blog here I used to spend almost $400 a week on food. Now I spend less than a third of that without sacrificing our standards or giving up our indulgences.
I get a lot of questions about how we lowered our costs, so I thought I'd sit down this weekend and write it all out. Here's the PDF (free, of course) of what I spent this week, with the menu plan, recipes, and how-to. |

This post is from from my other blog here I read several blogs to keep up with friends, but yours is the only one I read for entertainment. You have a unique style that I really enjoy. I'm working my way through it - and I'm in the middle of '08 - you've kept my attention! Keep on writing - you are still really good even if you feel stuck. |

This post is from from my other blog here Almost all of the blogs I read are just from 'regular' folks. They're not usually struggling with Big, Important issues (at least, not any more than all of us are); it's the style and the tone of their writing that keeps bringing me back to them, and to you.
When I try to explain this to people in my life who aren't personal-blog readers, a lot of them don't get it, but I've recently started paralleling you all to Erma Bombeck. She wasn't in any startlingly unique life circumstances, she just had the skill and wit to write about the ...

This post is from from my other blog here Aren't these moments the greatest??? My kids don't LOVE writing, but every once in a while they get motivated on their own, and wow.
My 9 year old didn't have money for Christmas gifts, so she made cards for all of us. She gave her big brother the best letter, telling him what a great brother he was--he actually teared up. And then threw the letter away when she said he didn't have to keep it! LOL I was so upset--I would have saved it! |

This post is from from my other blog here I love Design Her Gals, and have bought a number of their products (I'm drinking from my DHG coffee mug as we speak.) I especially love their dedication to breast cancer research. They are adding a plus-size Gal template this month, I think, which is probably based on comments like yours. They don't have a pear shaped Gal, so my avatar has a better figure than I do, not to mention a better wardrobe. |

This post is from from my other blog here I know just what you mean. My son is 12 now, but I can remember him being oh, 7 or 8, and just the way he would say something, or look, and it would be like I could see him at 18 or 21. It's a weird feeling. All of a sudden, it feels like there's this urgency to train him, to help him become the man he needs to be, because it's going to be here before I know it. |

This post is from from my other blog here When I was pregnant with my first son a good friend made it a point to tell me I was not allowed to leave my baby in the car while I went to the ATM or just ran into Starbucks. I'm glad she did... Some of these "common sense" parenting rules aren't obvious to some of us (me).
That said, I definitely would have left an 8 year old alone asleep for 10 minutes, but I'm probably not the right one to consult on such matters. ;) |
