Hey there! My name is Jane, I''m 36, married to David and a first time mum to Daniel. We live in Melbourne (presently renting in the inner city, but looking at buying sometime soon, hopefully, most likely in the far flung outer edge somewhere!) Daniel is gorgeous: a very active and interactive little person, and has been since birth (the very first night in the hospital at least three midwives gave us advice on how to get him to sleep in the cot... no dice! He ended up sleeping (as much as he did) on my chest, and it''s only in the last couple of weeks that we have had him sleeping in his cot most of the night.) Daniel is also multi-coloured! He has a large mongolian blue spot on around his tummy, lower back and bottom (this, we are told will pass with time); also a very extensive port-wine stain (over one side of his face, much of his upper back, his arms, hands and spots lower down.) This second birth mark is not expected to go away by itself. This type of mark, especially when it occurs on the face, can be associated with a genetic syndrome which involves brain function and some other nasties... in the days, weeks and months after his birth Daniel was prodded, poked and scanned by at least five different types of specialists; thankfully the result after all this medical attention is that to the best of our knowledge Daniel is ''''normal'''', he''s just brightly coloured! We are Christians, and attend our local Anglican church (where David and I met in 2000, and were married in 2001.) I love good food, good music, friends, my family of course, a deep, hot bath and (dream on Jane!) sleeping in. |
