My Recent Gifts

Me and My Family

This is a real native American Indina tee pee
Blake's tee pee

I have been called Miss Kelly for almost as long as I can remember. I would like it if my new friends did also.

I am going to be 43 soon.

I grew up in a small town in Central Illinois with my parents and a brother. I went to a University and majored in special eduacation and primarily have worked in early childhood for about 28 years. I started very young working summers for a camp with children with special needs. I have worked the last 19 years with "normal" children.

I married a boy from my small town but he went to a different University. We have known each other a long time and were always friends and in fact dated each others friends in high school. He is an Eagle Boy Scout and Order of the Arrow.

We have been married for 19 years. We have 2 sons ages 15 and 13. They are actually 18 months apart and have nothing in common but their parents, last name and address, we joke around here.

My husband and I have been volunteering with the scouts for about 11 years now. We were the den leaders for almost all the Cub Scouts dens and were the Cubmaster and assistant Cubmaster for years. Now my husband is the Scoutmaster with the Boy Scouts.

Between us we have a lot of experiance with children. BUT one could say a LOT of experiiences with boys!

We are the outdoors types for sure and take our children everywhere with us.

We wanted children all our lives and we wanted a large family but it was difficult to get pregnant and God wanted us to only have 2 sons and we are grateful for them!

memory boxes

Comment Published at 13:0813:086 comments6 comments76 Visits76 VisitsReport

Today I am cleaning out cupboards and closets. Not a fun job! The garbage man will surely hate me this next week.

Then the boys started cleaning their rooms. Not the usual cleaning put purging as I was. There are a few things that they don't really want to get rid of and don't use or have outgrown or don't have space for but can't spare them.

Since they were younger I have always kept memory boxes for each of them. As the years go by and they have made something interesting I have kept it, or done some good school work, or a special toy, or a special card they were given, a pretty picture, picures of their frinds that are not in their own photo albums, any wooden things that I thought they would like to give to their kids or some special book they loved and I did not donate, or their school report cards, or even notes their friends have given them and I found them in pockets when doing laundry, or even special rocks or fossils they have drug home. You get the picture.

Today I showed the boys the new memory boxes that I started 2 years ago. They each have one with their name on it. I took each boy aside one at a time and showed them this box and explained there were others in the attic much like this one that I have kept since thier births. I told them that the items that they could not bare to part with could be added to their box and they are kept now in the laundry room on a shelf.

Each boy seemed happy that I had been doing that and that some day they would look over all the things from their past. They were also pleased to have a box to add their keepsakes or toys in this case that they could not part with right now.

What started as an icky day has now turned a little brighter for me since I shared this with them and now you.

Not sure how to do all of those things yet I am new.

1. I am handicapable and wear a leg brace

2. I love being near water like beaches, canoeing, kyaking, camping, fishing

3. I have been working at the same preschool for 14 years

4.(don't think less of me) I am a smoker and do this not around my family, it seems to be an activity that I do not have to share and can be alone. I know that is crazy and I am an educated person who knows better but I guess I am an addict.

5. I lived in town and my father was the town banker but a boy gave me a pet pig for my 14th birthday and her name was Polly and she lived in our backyard for a year.

6. I loved high school and could that again!

7. I have been feeling old lately,43

8.last summer I survived the boudary waters for 2 weeks with our boy scout group, I am proud of this because I survived and didn't break anything but have scars to help me remember the trip everyday.

9. I drive a huge red conversion van

10. I feel so lucky cause I love my family, I am also trying very hard to survive my 15 years old teenage moods and attitudes

Oh, sorry I thought it was 10 not 6 and apperently got carried away.

my first blog

I hope I am doing this right. I have a lot of experience with all types of children. I was a director of 3 different preschools and was a private school Kindergarten teacher and a preschool teacher for many years. I could help answer many questions for some people.

I also have many years of experience with the Boy Scouts of America. We like the great outdoors and traveling.

If you have any questions that you think I could answer then please contact me.
