Shopping with a toddler?

Comment Published at 17:0717:073 comments3 comments221 Visits221 VisitsReport
Is it possible to get any shopping done with a 21 month old who's active and wants to run and swing all day?  Today we drove 45 minutes to the next biggest town to look at living room furniture. We spent 2 hours in the store and walked out with nothing! We did narrow down a a recliner that we liked but had trouble matching a love seat to it.  It was weird trying to make such an important decision with a young one who didn't want to let you talk to a salesperson, or sit and test the chairs.  We've never been stroller people and the idea of strapping Meilene down worries me. I just feel like she'd get more energy out if she walked around. Looks like I've created my own monster!

Shopping with a toddler?
i would say that it is very difficult to shop with a toddler. I have 3 toddlers. i use a double stroller for my 16 month old twins and a toddler leash for my 2 in a half year old when i am by myself. It is still not fun to shop with all of them. You do what you have to do. i am not sure what to suggest if you don't want to use a stroller, maybe trying to do some of the major shopping by yourself and leave your toddler with your husband or babysitter. The everyday shopping, use a shopping cart. Your toddler will grow out of this stage eventually. Good luck!!!

Haha, I really like your leash idea.  I just might have to get one.  Where did you pick yours up?  I have a chest strap that I rarely use for my dog.  Think that would work?  Hmmm.. hope people don't think I'm inhumane!

Shopping with a toddler?

I got my son's leash at Walmart. It's an absolute must if I have to do some shopping. We were buying shoes for him one day and I let him walk around the store. While reaching for my wallet, he left the store! Thankfully, it was in a mall and thankfully I was with another mom.

If you want to see the picture of the leash (it's a monkey backpack), visit this blog post http://2005.minti.com/blog/3664/Toddler-leash/#comments. The picture is on one of the comments.
