Immunization

Comment Published at 04:2704:274 comments4 comments91 Visits91 VisitsReport

Natalya had her 8 week old immunizations today.  Mika and I both took our babies to the doctors surgery to get their immunizations today. Mika’s baby Urina was born just hours before Natalya. While the obstetrician was in my room advising us on our options about my pre-eclampsia he was paged to deliver Mika’s baby in the hospital next door.

Amanda had Jaxon immunized last week and she recommended that we have the boob ready for the baby as soon as the needle was given. Natalya took it after the first needle and was drinking when she was given the second needle. That started her screaming again but she would not take the boob again. She had a good scream.

On the way back to our cars we stopped at the pharmacy to get some baby paracetamol.

needles
Hi
I hate it when they hurt the bubs with the needles....Our doctor doesn't like giving  the needle unless he knows we have given her panadol approx half hour before as he said why should they have to put up with the pain..  if they already have the pain killer beforehand they seem to settle way quicker and also helps if they get a slight after effect and their temp rises a bit.  Makes them more comfortable is his words.
Giv bub a big hug for me
and one for you too
Luv Deb

Immunisation is always traumatic
Both for mum and baby but it's worth it (I believe). I am a fairly strong person and had to hold my youngest son as tight as I could for his last ones as he knew what was happening and he just wriggled and wriggled and screamed before anyone came near him with the needle.  He did not even want to see the doctor the next time he had to go because he was still scared.  Oh well these are the joys of life - I suppose!

Arianna screamed!
Poor girl just screamed when she got her needles, except for once when she actually smiled at the nurse between needles.  Very weird.  One suggestion is to give them medication about a half hour before the needles.  Should work better than just after.

Immunization

I remember the first set of shots.. Oh my I could of cried myself hearing my daughter cry. It broke my heart. March 7th she has to get her 1 yr shots, I wonder how much fun it will be this time around.

How often do you have to get her the shots over in Australia? (I know place's are different than others, that's why I'm asking) Here in Alberta is 2 months, 4 months, 6 months and then 12 months.. And then so on. So when my daughter is 18 months she wil have to get another set too..
I hope the next time around goes better. She's a very good baby you got!!

It's nice to always hear from you :) Take Care!!
