Pregnancy has sapped my creativity

Comment Published at 04:3304:333 comments3 comments145 Visits145 VisitsReport
I have to admit that pregnancy seems to have sapped my creativity.
I used to enjoy cardmaking and other crafts but all through pregnancy  I have not felt much like doing my craft stuff.
I started pottery a few months ago but often have trouble with ideas or even getting motivated to make something when I am there. I have wagged pottery several times lately too.
I go to a craft group on a Thursday but sometimes I really have to force myself to do something.
I am really hoping my creativity returns after bubs is born.
One of my close friends is also pregnant -Maree  is due in the first week of February. She is a very creative person and a great painter but has not been painting through pregnancy as she too has found her creative spirit zapped.
We just bought a sewing machine so I can make some new curtains. The current ones are letting in too much heat. Todays hot weather should hopefully give me a push to get onto them. I have had it for about two weeks and so far I have just made two sheet sets for the bassinette.

Did anyone else find that pregnancy reduced their normal level of creativity?

i think this is normal!
some women hibernate a little during pregnancy--preferring to withdrawal a little into a protective cocoon.  it's a very natural phenomenon i think--and it passes.  i find that creativity returns in full force once you and baby are settled into new routines.  hang in there!

hmmm pregnancy lol

it may be because you are focused on your pregnancy, as you have never had a baby before you are probably too buisy day dreaming and mentally prepearing yourself for mothere hood, i know since i had my first karlee that i do not do as many of my old hobbies as i use to, i just don't have the time plus i've found a much more interesting one the kids, i do still get into my fittness stuff as that has always been a hobby of mine ( good for the mind body and soul hehe, ward of any kind of depression also hehe) anyway you'll probably notice that you'll go completely back to normal once baby is about 2 months old once your use to haveing a baby and gotton into a routine you'll find you'll get back into your interests
