Two exhausting days

Yesterday I went down the hill to Bunbury to do some shopping, get the car checked and join my friend at her 'lunch with the girls'. It was nice to sit with a bunch of women and chat. We spent quite a while waiting for two of the girls to turn up so by the time we finished we had been in the coffee shop for just over 2 hours. I didn't get to do all my shopping. By 4 pm I was exhausted. I get a bit breathless in the afternoon. The midwife I asked said it was possibly due to my low iron.

I did manage to exchange the bassinette for one without a stitching fault,  exchange the faulty doorbell for one that works, buy a 'bodypillow', buy a new maternity top, a christmas t-shirt (long enough to cover my belly) and a boob-tube for wearing under my t-shirts to lengthen them during pregnancy and then to cover my belly while I breastfeed once the baby is born and I managed to get some fresh vegies at the farmers market. We can only get vegies at the supermarkets in Collie - not as fresh!

I had to lie down at my friends place for an hour before I had the energy to drive home.

Today it was the all day one off anti-natal class. It started at 8 am. They rushed through some of the bits I was most interested in - the relaxation techniques for labour and the breast feeding positions. I had been going to buy a triangle pillow but they advised against it. Said it went against the convenience of breastfeeding - 'are you going to carry the pillow with you everywhere?"

The big no-no's were;
-pillows, doonas, bumpers, soft toys etc in cots
-Jolly jumpers and walkers
-baby powder

I was exhausted by the end. There were about 27 people in the class (about 15 mothers to be). As the class was so big there was not that much 'get to know you' plus the fact being a small town most people new each other - except us new to towners!

Tonight Haydon cooked dinner- baked pork chops with sweet potato and potato. I just made the apple sauce and prepared the snow peas so we had some greens.

Tomorrow I get my next iron injection.

Today I was too tired to do much housework other than my swish and swipe and the load of washing I did this evening, which I must go and hang out!

Poor thing, not long now and you have been really achieving quite a lot, don't over do it, you have the rest of your life for that.....trust me.

I'm wondering what your anti-natal class has against, baby powder, jolly jumpers, walkers and triangle pillows??????  I use corn flower instead of (but sometimes mixed with) baby powder and it is truely magical stuff for curing and preventing nappy rash (also good for under your boobs during summer if you are not one of those lucky perky after thirty ladies...I'm HUGE), I LOVE Jolly Jumpers.  I used them when Nannying, I even bought 2 so I could lend them to clients at the apropriate age for them, they're marvelous and the kids LOVE them, not to mention the fact that if you put them in it a little before sleep, they ware themselves out beautifully ready for a lengthy sleep.  I was a bit anti-walker as I'd heard bad things but as we don't have stairs a friend gave us one and I have attached a lead to it as Ailish can only go backwards and she loves being clever and propelling backwards and beign dragged forwards to start again, it's the only way she can move under her own steem and she loves it???

Is it the "bandy leg thing".  I heard about that, but Ailish has been in the Jolly Jumper AT LEAST once a day (usually 2 or 3...we have 2 of them, one shaped like an airoplane) since she was 4 months old and her legs are as normal looking as can be an her posture is terrific, it sounds to me like your anti-natal class is being run by some opinionated judgemental nazzi's, take everything they say with a grain of salt.  You are no fool you know what is good for your child and what you don't like.  Just follow your gut and you'll be fine and so will bubby.  Oh and congrats on the roombah, and your pozzy to date, I'm sooooo jellouse.

Love CheleIn her airoplane jumper at about 6 months.

Re the jolly jumpers and walkers - yes it is posture, more specifically toe walking which leads to shortened tendons in the legs. They did say that if you must use one to only use it for short periods of time and not too often in a day.

With the baby powder it is the inhalation of and the chemical content of.-kind of made sense to me with all they are now finding about inhaled substances.
