Kangaroo roast for dinner last night

Comment Published at 01:3701:372 comments2 comments329 Visits329 VisitsReport

Tonight Haydon is working afternoon shift so I get to eat dinner on my own. He was home last night so I cooked a small rolled marinated kangaroo roast (you can buy it that way in the supermarket). I managed to get the potatoes crispy for a change.

I think Australia is the only country that eats it national emblem (you can get emu sausages too in some places). I quite like kangaroo meat, it has quite a strong taste and is generally leaner than beef. It is quite a dark meat which I suspect may mean that it is higher in iron than lighter meats. The other advantage is that it is usually cheaper than beef.

Dinner tonight will be a very lazy meal I will probably just chop up some vegies and microwave them. I have not been sleeping well the last two nights and have run out of steam about midday. Another of the delights of pregnancy.

Oh Yum
What time do you want me there?
I love kanga meat, had some snags last week and looking at getting the burgers this week.

You could get the kanga mince and make your own burgers. I usually make it into bolognaise with lots of grated carrot and zuchini etc. The marinated steaks are pretty good too.
