1. What's your child's favorite book? My child is not yet born (I'm 22 weeks pregnant), but I am going to guess it would be the online book I found at the Australian Governments website on raising kids yesterday. The book said that it is ok to pick my baby up when whenever he or she cries until about 9 months without the risk of spoiling baby.

2. What's your favorite children's book? Charlie and the Chocolate Factory - book is much better than any of the movie versions

3. What's your child's favorite thing to eat? I have had a few chocolate cravings lately - must be baby asking for it

4. What's your favorite thing to eat? pizza - proper pizza not pizza hut or dominos

5. What's your child's favorite game? kick mummy - I only just started to feel it this week very exciting and reassuring

6. What's your favorite game? scrabble but I am lousy at it.

Okay, now I tag -Shoolacy, FireFighterDaddy, Dawn, gr8est and mewannaboy.

Here is how it works, answer all these questions and then tag 5 more minti members! Have fun ladies and gents!

I really really really want a nice glass of wine, some ham and some blue vein cheese

by MumKimComment Published at 23:5023:500 comments0 comments73 Visits73 VisitsReport

22 weeks pregnant and missing some of the little things in life. I love fruitwood wine. I discovered it at a wine tasting once where we all had to take bottles in brown paper bags. They numbered them and then after you had sampled them you got to find out what they were. I loved it even more when I went to the bottle shop and discovered it was less than $10 a bottle (I have bought it for less than $5  bottle i a dozen). I had been prepared to pay much more. Before I was pregnant I kept a bottle in the fridge and had a glass each night. Boy do I miss my fruitwood.

I am also missing ham. My favourite christmas food is the ham. Baby is due 5 days after Christmas.
At the shopping centre today a local cheese maker had samples. I had to stick to the hard ones. Gee I hate these listeria precautions! I want to be able to eat last nights left overs, I want to have cake with cream. I went to buy a fruit whip today but then I discovered they make it with soft serve.

4 months to go. whinge over.

Tired and sore back

by MumKimComment Published at 03:1303:130 comments0 comments129 Visits129 VisitsReport

I am feeling quite tired today and my back is aching. I couldn't get motivated at pottery this morning. Haydon finished night shift for now so things go back to normal.
Our house only has two bedrooms and the wouldbe nursery is full of junk (and some good stuff too). I need cupboards! I had tried ringing the cabinet maker in town to get a quote but couldn't get a call back. I dropped in this afternoon to get a quote. He said he couldn't do it until December or maybe January. Baby is due in December!

20 Week ultrasound went well but they couldn't tell us the sex

by MumKimComment Published at 21:1921:192 comments2 comments245 Visits245 VisitsReport

We had our 20 week ultrasound on Thursday. It was very comforting to see the little heart beating. All the measurements were within normal limits so I am feeling a bit more comfortable now. I had wanted to know the sex of the baby. I figured why should the ultrastenographer and doctor know and not us! Neither of us has any preference for a boy or a girl, we just want a healthy baby. I am still waiting to feel the baby kick.
Guess I will be choosing green for nursery items. I have decided not to paint the room as I don't want to expose the baby to paint fumes. I still have to get in and clear out all the junk.
We  moved in in March and there are only 2 bedrooms so you can guess where all the junk landed. Two months in bed with morning sickness didn't help much either. Or the COLD. Our town is often the coldest place in WA. Our fire in the lounge barely heats that room and does nothing for the rest of the house. Some days I went back to bed just to get warm. We have finally finished getting quotes for reverse cycle air con- it gets put in this coming Friday. But I still have to get an electrician to wire it in.
I am also trying to get a cabinet maker to give quotes on putting a big built in cupboard in the hall (I have got to put stuff somewhere). WA has a boom going on so trying to get tradesmen of any description is very hard.

Pregnant, new to town and missing my job

by MumKimComment Published at 02:0902:095 comments5 comments155 Visits155 VisitsReport

I am a newly married mum to be. We have just moved to a new town so I haven't met many people in town yet. Before we moved I was working as a Speech Pathologist. I am really missing working but with morning sickness (which has finally eased!) pregnancy etc and the nearest  vacant SP jobs being 90 minutes drive away I don't think I will work again until my child is in Kindy.

I have my 20 week ultrasound coming up this week. I am excited and nervous. I misscarried at 17 weeks last time so am still pretty cautious about the pregnancy. I haven't let myself buy much baby stuff.- Just in case. My husband is still pretty cautious too.
