I’ve just been puked on, pooped on, sucked on, and screamed at. Now she is finally asleep! Ain’t motherhood grand!

I walked down  the hill to town today for the first time since before Natalya was born. By the time I got there the shop I wanted was closed (closed at 12:30). I treated myself to a milkshake at the coffee shop and bumped into Amanda and Jaxon with Amanda’s mother in law. Jaxon is only 4 days older than Natalya but is very advanced for his age. He is already on solids and has two teeth.

I finally arrived home three weeks ago. Since then I have been trying to catch up with everything. It took me nearly two weeks to unload the cases. I could only do it when Natalya was asleep and since she sleeps in our room I couldn’t put my clothes away while she was asleep. Eventually I got hubby to hold her when he was home so I could put some stuff away.

Having the car broken into two days after getting back put a bit of a damper on the homecoming. It also meant I had to stay in Perth for ...

I am finally getting around to uploading the photo taken at the end of March when Natalya and I met Phio (Minti- Wildrose) for lunch.
It was really nice to finally meet up face to face.

Sleeping with Sunflowers

She was a lot happier during the day but I couldn't get her to sleep properly during the day. She wouldn't sit in her stroller for long when we went out so I ended up carrying her in the babybjorn harness.
This evening she screamed again but Haydon took care of her while I cooked dinner.
We have my mother and 5 year old niece staying with us and invited another friend to join us. I cooked garlic prawns. Natalya fell asleep just before we started eating until just after I served dessert.
I really hope she is in a good mood tomorrow. At the mothers group we are all taking along cameras and stuff we think will make good props for baby photos. I hope I will get to take some photos of my smiling baby!

I went to mothers group on Wednesday. Out of the ten babies there mine was the noisiest. She screamed for a large part of it. One of the other mothers said she felt so much better after seeing Natalya because it made her feel better about when her baby screams.
I think Natalya must have had a belly ache because she sounded like she was in pain. Usually Natalya is really happy in public and saves her screaming for home. Not a planned action on her part - she is only three and a half months old.
By the way - I discovered that the 'chemists own' brand of panadol has sorbitol in it (not sure if pandol brand does too). Anyway - sorbitol works as a laxative. NOt that my daughter needed any help there. Oh my goodness and enough said on that subject.

I think Natalya might be starting teething. Yesterday she screamed and screamed. We put a bit of bonjella on her gums and she settled for a while. I spent most of the day just holding her. When I did finally get her to sleep I was too scared to put her down in case she woke up so I just held her. I got to catch up on some Minti -typing one handed.
Last night I gave her her first ever dose of baby panadol. My head was aching and my ears were ringing from her screaming. I can't put her down when she is like that so I just hold her and rock her and hope she will stop. I don't like giving medications unless it is absolutely necessary but she was just so unhappy I figured she had probably given herself a headache too. It was the first time I have given her anything other than breast milk.
A few hours later when Haydon got home from work she woke up and managed to give him a smile. Then the screaming started again. That time I managed to settle her by rocking her in the rocking chair and she slept well until I accidently work her while trying to put her in a baby sleeping bag to keep her warm. After a nappy change and a feed she went back to sleep until Haydon's alarm went at 6.  She had another feed, nappy change and scream and then  slept and we have done that again around 8 before she settled quietly in my arms for some songs and a story before I managed to get her back to sleep again.
Lets hope the dogs don't bark. Let sleeping babies lie.
