I was just going through my emails, and noticed something I missed yesterday regarding the email from the boys dad.

He sent a copy to my oldest son!

In itself, its no big deal, I knew my oldest would hear about it.

But I was married to him for 24 years, I know all his tricks and mind games, He exactly knew what he was doing by putting on the email cc Chris Young

Strangely I feel oddly saddened but at the same relieved by this discovery

1) Sad - I was prepared to consider he was doing the best thing finally for the boys

2) Relieved - I know I was right to not trust him and believe he had changed

I really hoped that he wanted to do the right thing by his relationship with his younger sons, but it seems that once again, the only relationship he loves is the one with my oldest. He was once heard to say at work, even though we had all four children at the time, that the only thing in life he was proud of was his oldest son! He must still believe that.

Oh well. His loss LOL

I'm so surprised, in fact I am gobsmacked.

Pleasantly surprised to say the very least.

I've had a reply already, in fact a very nice reply, basically he said he has no problem whatsoever with the boys travelling to Iceland in fact even going so far as to wish as all a lovely time, has asked for confirmation of the dates we are going which I am happy to give him.

I am also able to take the boys to Iceland anytime, again he would appreciate any further dates we go as notice, I am more than happy to do this too.

Regarding Thomas trip to France, again very happy, glad to hear Thomas wants to further his education also asked if as long as Thomas gives permission I would let him know of Thomas exam results next June!!!!!!!

(Wow asking Thomas permission?????)

He asked me to pass on his love to both boys, which I have done, Thomas didn't want to know, Daniel smiled but said he still doesn't want to see him, I told him thats fine, your dad isn't putting any pressure on you. Its completely your choice, Daniel smiled again!!

I am completely stunned, all that worry for nothing

I'm guessing there are two possibilities for this outcome

a) He is playing a clever game and is biding his time to catch me off guard

b) He really does love his sons and so is willing to step back and is prepared to let them call the shots now so he may one day have a relationship with them in the future.

In my opinion, I don't trust him at all, I've seen him shed too many layers of personna to not underestimate his capabilities but for now I am happy to accept that its reason b) and he is finally thinking of what is best for his sons

Just using my blog as a diary LOL

Have just sent this email to my boys father, the stress and fear of thinking this through hasn't been a good experience as I have felt quite ill, I'm relieved I've sent it but quite frankly terrified of how he will come back

Last time, we had the trouble from his solicitor at my "audacity" to discuss holidays with the boys before going to him first!!!!

Hopefully now he is no longer seeing the boys, he will realise if he ever wants any kind of relationship with them in the future he needs to be co operative and fair now

Have to admit I really don't know how he will act, he is unpredictable to say the least and mean and vindictive too

Quite scared actually !!

Regarding taking the boys on holiday, they are again desperate to go to Iceland. I'm not yet sure if we can go August or October but unless you have any objection to them travelling there to visit Simon and Sylvia and get back to me in the next few days, I will be booking the flights and obviously I will keep you informed to the dates we would fly out and fly back again, so you know exactly when the boys are out of the country. I'm sure you won't have any objections as you know what it means to the boys.

In future would you be prepared to let the boys and I assume that you are ok with all trips to Iceland on the condition that I notify you of the dates we are going as soon as I book them and that the time away doesn't exceed two weeks at any given time. Of course anything different to Iceland or longer than two weeks,   We will of course again let you know in advance to ensure you have no objections.

Also in August, Thomas has the opportunity to travel to France for two days, one overnight stop with his grandad and uncle, they are doing an historical excursion which will greatly benefit Thomas in his preparations for his History GCSE exam next year. Again Thomas and I are assuming you are once again ok with this trip too.

Any problems or further details you need to know, please feel free to ask, otherwise the boys and I will take it you have no objection to them having these holidays and be able to book them.

As already said I will confirm the dates to you as soon as things are booked
