My boy did ok

My 9 year old completed his Mini Marathon, there was 400 runners and he came a very proud 231st
My parents told me that when he was coming over the finishing line they give you a ticket to say what position you are and he was shouting "Look I'm 231!!!" With a big smile on his face. I'm so proud of him for being so sunny natured not letting his competitive side enable him to be disappointed, I've heard about it all day and to hear him talk you would think he actually won it.
I drove to a street of houses that are built on a hill that looks over the school playing fields, so I watched from there, I couldn't make anyone out but I felt a part of it still.
My Ex was there but he was covering first aid right at the highest point of the race where only the runners were!!!! After the race he returned to base and the boys briefly saw him, my parents waited near looking out for him but he never left the base ambulance, the boys saw him for less than 60 seconds, but they were fine and happy.
My parents also went around looking for my ex friend, only saw her husband who they were polite to and he chatted back but Mum said it was awkward as he was obviously expecting my parents to blank him and my parents are not like that at all.
So nothing major to report.
I still feel I did the right thing, my son  knows I was supporting him and he knows I was watching from a distance not too far away, in fact my 13 year old ran up to check on me!!!!!
As for my Ex I kind of feel he let the boys down, he made out he was going to be there so he could see them, and instead covered medical side of the race out of sight of them and all they got was a few minutes
I am so proud of my parents I swear they would take on just about anyone to take care of me!!!
xx

Hi there!
Yeah, I'm a little late on the uptake...!  'Sorry, glad to hear how things went for your son.  For you too, good that you were there, you needed that for yourself.  'So glad that your parents are circling the wagons for you!  They are great people!  Your ex-es loss must be impacting him or he wouldn't try the tactics that he's done, the kids can see his true colours though!  Good for you all 'round, weekend is nearly here, have a good one!

Hi Ya!
Thanks Margi
Nah he isn't fading into the background he is using other tactics, now ringing up family members and sobbing about how to get my forgiveness and another chance. Fortunately the ones he has rung so far also have caught him out in lies during the conversation!!!!!
Great day with my son though, I was so proud of his attitude too

231st That's excellent
For a 9 yo to come in 23st out of 400 is great.  Good on you for going to watch (even from a distance). Who knows - next year you may be stronger and able to conquer those fears and get a bit closer.  God bless you and I pray for even more boldness for you!!  Your parents seem to be a great support to you too - which is excellent.  Nell I am so proud of you - keep is up.

Well done
Well done to your son and well done to you for finding a safe way of being there rather than giving up and hiding at home! That took courage!

oh how gorgeous that your  son was so pleased on his position in the race. and he would have being so happy to have you and his grandparents there as support...

As for his dad its his loss that he couldnt share the one of the most important things that your son achieved in his life, first ad help is good, but he could have done both and made sure that your son knew that he was proud of his sons achievements....

I love it when they are so pleased with themselves like this, he as did all the runners got a little medal on a ribbon he has hung it up with all his grandad's London Marathon medals. So cute!!!
You're right its his dads loss, I was just upset that again he had disappointed his boys. What a loser!!!!
Thanks Cazza

Yay!

Sounds like everything went really well.  And I think that shows really strongly how much more committed to your kids you are than your ex.  Even when you're struggling with your own issues, you still make it to watch as best you can and ensure other people, like your parents, are there too.  Your ex can't even be bothered to watch the race when he's right in the thick of it.  (yeah - your ex is not my favourite person.  Can you tell??!!)

I'm so pleased your boy was so happy with how he went.  He really deserves to be.

Sounds really good!

Leith

Yay!
You are so funny Leith
He is not my fav person either can you tell that? Hee hee hee
What was great is that my youngest also knew I was able to watch from afar so he didn't worry about my safety but he did know I was cheering him on
