i've had a week with no internet, is there anything worse !!!!!!!

So frustrating.

I rang my service provided, they checked my line and discovered 7 small faults, so they fixed them from their end, rang me to say it should be working now........it wasn't !!!!!

They decided to send an engineer, they gave me a time slot of 1pm to 6pm, I asked if they would write on the form that I would be at work until 1.30pm but apparently they can't do that, I had to risk missing him!!!!! How crazy is that, I even gave me mobile number so he could ring if I wasn't home, they said they couldn't do that either!!!!! I raced home after work, at 2pm I had a call from the engineer asking if I was home??????? Crazy switchboard operator

He came right around and tested the whole system, eventually to discover that the problem was my modem!!!!

He gave me a number to call to order  a new modem, I rang the number to be told that they couldn't do anything until they heard from the engineer himself, which could take 24 hours !!!!! ARGH Pathetic!!!!!! I then popped to the shop with Daniel, when we came home, TJ told me I had missed a call from BT regarding a new modem!!!!!! What!!!!!!

I called them back and after being passed around to several departments, I was then given another number to call !!!!

Finally I was through to the right person, he told me my modem was out of warranty so I would have to buy one, I was fine with that, he then went into sales pitch about having a new contract with them and getting my modem for free!!! I assured him he had to be kidding, all I wanted was my modem, not to be tied to them!!!!

So Modem safely ordered, delivery would be up to 4 days !!!!!!!!!!

This was just so not funny anymore. At last, my modem arrived yesterday, this time its wireless, which is fantastic news for the boys as they can now play Wii Fi  with people all over the world, TJ also now can get internet on his ipod touch so we are one very happy household again.

I don't like my home without internet !!!!!!!

It's funny to think how important the internet has become!  And 20 years ago, it didn't even exist (at least for us homebodies)!!

No internet sucks LOL internet junkies arnt we hehehe BT are a pain in the backside dont even get me started on them they have been charging me for 9 months for BT  vision that i dont even have they owe me about £70 still waiting for thme to call GGGRR xx

BT are so annoying arent they, I am so sick of being given the run around, I get calls every week too asking if I want to renew my contract, I keep telling them to take me off the list of cold calling, but the calls still keep coming !!!!!!

So glad you're back! It drives me mad that they cant give you tighter timeslots than half a day. The number of times we have had to insist they put on the work order that I HAVE to be out for half an hour for the school run, but the message never seems to get thru  and they always seem to appear at 9 or 3 - aaargh - I waited in for you from 915 - 2.55 and now you appear at 3!!! Or worse, I pop out in the garden to hang washing out and dont hear the door bell. Who can stay by the front door all day and not even go to the loo, I mean?! Yep, I bet you can tell I hate it too! If Tesco can deliver in a two hour slot and Waitrose can hit a one hour slot, why do BT need 5 hours?

I hate to be without my internet connection, so I can imagine how frustrating it was for you. And I am very glad to see you back online - Minti is pretty quiet at the moment! Got any good Articles in your head?

interesting  in one of our regular australian magazines the editor of "thats life" had a similar experience with a new power cord her laptop  she was told that whilst her laptop was stillunder the 2 year warranty the cord wasnt and she would have to buy a new one (thats life issue 12 march 25 2009 editorial page)  for australian minti members only reference

she thought that was wrong the laptop cant work without a cord so how can that be treated seperately ? at the end she spoke to a service manager and did get the cord at no extra cost.

ah the internet line just like my phone line out of service last week  i blogged about it.  after telling them my line was dead she told me she had some questions she had to ask me. the first being are you ringing from your home phone???? der .

my answer" of course not i dont have a dial tone like i told you what a stupid quesion"  her reply "its not as stupid as you think! " to which i didnt even question  as all logic had gone out the window!

i too was told that i cant say a time so of course i was at work when he called me on the mobs (my home phone had been redirected to it )

i was also without  a washing machine for 3 weeks which was only 15 months old and stillunder warranty but the parts (2 in all ) had to come from another state and ordered by indepndant contractors that the company supplies. they wouldnt book in a second appointment til they were sure they had the parts in their hands . too bad that i work. at the end i conviced themto put in a potential booking and that they could cancel it if the parts hadnt arrived . oh and the company is based in america with their call centre in manilla !  you can imagine the dramas !!

its a great feeling though when all is fixed  glad to have you back on line  helen

Isn't it a complete nightmare when you get the run around from these big companies, it amazes me that you the consumer have to be the one thats available to them at all times!!!!! How can you warrant time off work, to sit at home awaiting for a call out that may or may not even turn up, The world has gone crazy!!!!!

 Hooray Helen is back, no there is nothing worse than being without the internet, the feeling is like being without your life line.

Dealing with some of these service providers can sure be a nightmare....glad you have it all sorted out.
