All danced out

Comment Published at 05:5305:5312 comments12 comments24 Visits24 VisitsReport

and I didn't even dance.

We had our Valentines Dance for the High School tonight, and whoever the stupid cow was that said the finishing time was 10.30pm deserves a great big boot up their bum!!

We ended up with 117 kids, which was a great roll out for a school of less than 300 students. We are currently upgrading our school hall where it was held, and I must say that the techy guys that are working on it, did a fantastic job of working in with us, to give us what we needed for the night.

David and the rest of the Production Team did the music for us, instead of us paying a DJ to come in and do it. This saved us $300+. The only stipulations to the music were it had to be a mixture of music, and not a lot of swearing. And knowing what the kids listen to, this was a hard task. However the came through for us, and only one song had any swearing and we didn't even notice.

We ended up making about $1000 profit, so it was a success. And we also con the kids into cleaning up after, cause we always finish the last song about 15 - 20 minutes before the advertised end of the dance, so they all can help. I am so cruel to the little darlings. I know, they told me so tonight.

I am really sore now, as I didn't get to sit down all night, and got home about 11. I hope there is nothing big on for the weekend, cause at the moment my head is full of mush.
Cheers

Sounds like you guys did a good job, be careful they'll be asking you to run more fundraisers if you make them that successful!  The schools really need the money, don't they?  Zane's is always trying to fundraise, ah well it's all a good cause - our kids!

Re: All danced out

I am part of the Fundraising Committee there, so I do it anyway. We do have another dance planned for October and decided to make it a Halloween one. So the kids get to dress in costume. We also have a monthly Trivia Night, and of course Melbourne Cup Luncheon this year to go.

Thanks Cazza, it was great. The P&C are giving the school $20 000 this year so we need to fundraise really well. The teachers have been told if they want the money they have to attend. So we had 4 teachers there last night to help with supervision. It was good.

Re: All danced out

Lots of fun. But the best part was how well the boys did with the music and knowing inside that it was MY idea!!

That was a game move on your part.  Bet you had a fun night though.  Still many years before we are at that stage with ours, so if you have any tips, I'm all eyes.

Hope you get some sleep and aren't feeling too sore.

I will be heading to bed very shortly as I am now starting to wind down enough to sleep. As to sore, I am ignoring the pain in my back and I have no feet I have decided!!

Re: All danced out

GOOD JOB on a GREAT amount raised . . . . WOW 117 kids, you deserve a medal ! ! !

I organised a disco for my eldest when she was at primary and 50 turned up . . At the end of the night I was stuffed and covered in sweat as I had entertained them by dancing too and the next day I found out what happens to unfit ppl who try and be young again . . . OMG I could barely walk . .  BUT the kids loved it and I was asked to run all the disco's for that year which I happily did BUT i did not dance myself again . ..

on a GREAT job  and on being a GREAT MUM
