He scrubbed up well

Tonight was Dave's Semi Formal. I must say, and I could be rather biased, that he looked quite dashing. Here is a pic:

They went on a river cruise for the evening and lots of fun was had by all.

Tomorrow is their last day of school before 8 weeks holidays. Oh boy, I am sooooo looking forward to that...NOT. Maybe he will find a job. But then again, alot of it will be taken up by the new girlfriend I suppose.

Til next time. Leisa

Brilliant weekend

by NgairiComment Published at 04:0604:063 comments3 comments14 Visits14 VisitsReport

Well I had my girlfriend and her family up here for the weekend. Wow, it was so good to see them again and to meet her youngest. The kids all got on well which was good and they all fitted in the house nicely.

We didn't do anything exciting, just took the kids to the park on Saturday afternoon, then on Sunday we went to Sizzler for lunch. They used to have a Sizzler in Gosford, but it shut down years ago. My friend got hooked on Sizzler when she used to live up here in Brisbane with me. So we introduced her husband and her children to the all you can eat experience. We were all so full and some of the kids were feeling a little green, but it was all good.

Went to the Golden Circle Factory Carpark Sale on Saturday morning and OMG there were hundreds of people there, I picked up some great bargains tho, and the kids are happy with what I got. There is actually soft drink in the house for a while.

So it was a big weekend, my friends left this morning for the Gold Coast where they are holidaying for the next 10 days. The next time I will see them will be in September next year when they come up for my Not 50th Birthday Party (a lot of my friends have been turning 50 and I will only be 40 so it's a not 50th and I tell them I have to call it that cause they might all be dead or deranged by the time I turn 50!! LOL. It has been a running joke that I am a baby compared to them). So that should be a good party.

Anyway better go to bed. Have a great week one and all. Leisa

To all my friends

by NgairiComment Published at 04:3104:316 comments6 comments28 Visits28 VisitsReport

I have a list of folks I know...
all written in a  book,
And every now and then..
I go and take a look.

That is when I realize these names...
they are a  part,
not of the book they're written in...
but taken from the heart.

For each name stands for someone...
who has crossed my path sometime,
and in that meeting they have become...
the reason and the rhyme.

Although it sounds fantastic...
for me to make this claim,
I really am composed...
of each remembered name.

Although you're not aware...
of any special link,
just knowing you, has shaped my life...
more than you could think.

So please don't think my greeting...
as just a mere routine,
your name was not...
forgotten in between.

For when I send a greeting...
that is addressed to you,
it is because you're on the list...
of folks I'm indebted to.

So whether I have known you...
for many days or few,
in some ways you have a part...
in shaping things I do.

I am but a total...
of many folks I've met,
you are a friend I would prefer...
never to forget.

Bloody kids

by NgairiComment Published at 01:2901:2918 comments18 comments44 Visits44 VisitsReport

Firstly thanks to all who gave me help this morning. It was appreciated. He decided not to go to the hospital, but left it open if any other symptoms showed themselves.

My 16 yr old came off his bike and face planted the concrete last night while staying over at a mates place. He tells me later today that it was at about 10 pm last night. To say I was not happy about them riding on their bikes in the skate park at that time of night is an understatement.

Here is a little pic of what he looks like now. Of course this morning it looked a little worse as it was still dirty.

Bloody kids!

Mum took the other 2 out today and wanted to go to the movies, but they couldn't agree on one so they didn't see it. Connor posted his Christmas list to Santa while he was out.

How's this for a slap in the face?

by NgairiComment Published at 20:4620:4620 comments20 comments52 Visits52 VisitsReport

I have been informed by a friend of mine at school, that I will not be running another Melbourne Cup Luncheon again. Even though it was a success, I will not be doing it. Another person will be running it.

Not that I really care, cause I did the first one, and it was a success and made money. So I know in my heart that whoever has the headache next year, I DID IT FIRST!!!!

This other person can go fly a kite!

Alright had my bitch.

Friends are coming

by NgairiComment Published at 03:5003:5012 comments12 comments22 Visits22 VisitsReport

One of my best friends sent me an email yesterday, reminding me that she will be coming up with the family (from NSW) at the end of the month. OMG with everything else I have been doing I completely forgot. There are 5 of them coming and staying for the weekend before going to the coast for a holiday. I am now going to have to reorganise the house to accomodate them all.

But it will be so good to see her again, as the last time we saw each other she was pregnant with Max who is now 2 1/2. Dave will give up his room so that Ro and Clint can stay in his room with Max and will put the girls in the lounge maybe. Not sure yet. Oh well I will work it out I am sure.

But have to do some serious housecleaning.

What a brilliant day

by NgairiComment Published at 23:2523:252 comments2 comments14 Visits14 VisitsReport

It is over and done. It was brilliant. Worked really well. Everyone was impressed!

Today was our Melbourne Cup Luncheon as a fundraiser for our high school. It has been a lot of hard work, a lot of worry and a lot of headaches.

I cannot praise the hospitality kids enough for the effort that they made on the meal. Everyone ate it and loved it. For the fact that these kids are all 15 /16, they produced a wonderful meal. They served well and looked after the drinks etc on the tables. They cleaned up after the meal. If they don't all get a High Achievement for their efforts I will be surprised. (they were doing this as their final assessment for the year)

I am putting this in here even tho they won't be reading it and I will be putting it in the school newsletter. The sound and lighting team had everything working like clockwork. They had a small hiccup yesterday with the projector but they fixed it this morning and so we were able to watch the race on the big screen on stage. Without these guys the day would not have run as well as it did either.

The girls that helped out with the fashion parade were commended for their spirit of involvement. 16 yr old girls don't like to wear fashion aimed at the 30-60 yr old age group but they carried it off with aplomb.

The committeee that helped to run the day. From acquiring prizes to helping set up tables, they did a fantastic job.

Lastly the school, for allowing us to use the hall and giving us the support we needed. From allowing the students to use the day for their assessment, for allowing students to help set up and for allowing us to use the students to help on the day. Without their support, we would be stranded.

THANK YOU

One day to go

by NgairiComment Published at 01:3401:340 comments0 comments27 Visits27 VisitsReport

Well today we did all the preparation for our lunch tomorrow. We set up the hall, and set all the tables. I took 4 of the girls out to Chermside to try on outfits for the fashion parade, and then took one lady back out in the afternoon. So we have 12 outfits to show. Not bad. And they are providing a staff member to talk about the fashion, so I don't have to do it and can participate. Yay!

Lunch is well on the way, albeit a little late getting started. One of the mums who was supposed to be at school early so we could get all the food for the hospitality kids, didn't come til 11am, so I didn't get back with the food until 1.30. The teacher had wanted to start at 12.15. Oh well. It will all come together.

We had a problem with the projector but that should get fixed in the morning. If it doesn't we are screwed. It will be a nice meal anyway and lots of prizes.

So that was my day. Even tho I am enjoying organising the lunch, I will be happy when it is all over. I haven;t even worked out what I am going to wear.
