If all love, patience and talking fail....walk out of the room
I had a rather trying moment yesterday where all my patience was tested. Luke was pouncing, grabbing, pushing and super hero fighting Alyssa, and she didn't want him to do it. So she was screaming every second I looked away.
My skills learnt from Super Nanny seemed useless and I was about to explode into the Monster Mummy......so I turned around walked into my bedroom, shut the door, walked into my ensuite, shut the door and stood firmly against it. Yeah, funny now. And, after about 1 minute of being there recollecting my thoughts(rather regaining my sanity) and my patience, I laughed at myself. A quiet knock on the door and I open it slowly. There stood two little angels looking up at me wide eyed. "What you doing, mummy?" asked Luke. I explained to him that I was getting very cross and I had to think about how to get him to understand what he was doing was "unacceptable". "I hurt Alyssa...oooh sorry mummy. Sorry Alyssa."
Yes, they understand......they understand very well. It's the way we deliver our message that makes the difference |
