I want to wish three special people a very happy birthday today

Sid my DH, Marcus my DS and Sylvia my lovely DIL I am cooking a birthday meal for Sid and Marcus at lunchtime and i so wish Sylvia could join them,however we did go out all eleven of us when my Iceland family were here on Hokiday in August to celebrate these birthdays. (As you well know Sylvia lives in Iceland)

 I must admit I always thought the computer age would pass me by mainly as I wasn't really interested. I have kept a daily diary since 1969 and still do. Then my son Simon went to live in Iceland and wanted to keep in touch via the computer. For a few years I said,  "  Helen and Marc can keep us informed, "   but that wasn't quite the same and he cane home on holiday and he took dad to the shop for a computer .

For a while, I was enjoying just on msn speaking regularly to Simon and Sylvia, at the same time getting used to this computer age ( with many difficulties of course ) and being told there is more I could do if I would only try !!!!!!

Helen at that time was being so helped on this site and one day she just added me with a few friends on to the minti site and me trying to insist this is no place for Grandmothers, Wrong again, Janice and Marg were the first ones she recommended me to have as friends as well as a few young mums/

i soon loved reading blogs and  commenting on them and became full of admiration to all the lovely young mums who cared for their little ones, all so willing to help other mums going through their problems, and being helped themselves with various Q&A and Advice blogs.

It is definitely my number one site and so lovely to have REAL friends here with me every day

Last Tuesday we left the house early to go to visit relatives in Derby. We had been there a few times before and thought we knew the way but set the Sat Nav. It was a lovely journey and was doing so well Sid suggested we stopped for a coffee. Good idea ? No not really !!!!! Strange that the time one can take when you are nearly there and you get lost. We kept going and the Sat  Nav was telling us to "Turn Right " and I was telling it there was No right turn. Road works and diversions were not at all helpful and trying to find a place to stop to read the map was SO frustrating. Enough said about the last few miles......... We arrived at their house.

The next morning we set off with my cousin and her husband to visit Chatsworth House and Estate, the home of the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire (some photos in my FB pics ) It was beautiful and if you look at the pics on FB you will agree with me that it was well worth the  visit  We walked up to the three flights of stairs and my cousins were very tired   (not knowing there was a lift and not wanting to miss it. )

Thursday m we went for a drive and stopped in the lovely park near Matlock and it was so quiet and peaceful ( yes Janice, even with me there ) then stopped for a meal on our way home. When we arrived back to their place, we switched on the news etc but my cousin then said that we couldn't watch the soaps as she had 22 episodes of her favourites she had recorded and did not wish to watch the current episodes until she had seen the backlog. I couldn't stop laughing as they had been on a cruise two weeks before and she had vidoed all her programmes so that she didn't miss anything. Can you believe it. I don't think any TV programme is worth videoing

We left Friday morning and was home in two and a half hours.The Sat Nav behaved itself to come home. Anyone else had problems with this gadget, which nearly went out the window on the way up LOL
