great buys at ikea for baby

Comment Published at 15:0915:0922 comments22 comments57 Visits57 VisitsReport

Uploaded these photos days ago of purchases made at Ikea for baby (almost toddler). Thought i'd share mainly cause the prices were low compared to similar stuff one could purchase at Toy shops/ Target/Kmart etc....When buying baby furniture/toys I ask myself 'do they really need this?' and 'how long will it last?...... we all know most purchases are 'stuff' and 'stuff' has a way of multiplying ....Im sure mine does in the middle of the night....dont remember buying so much?  However these Purchases from IKea will last forever and most will entertain kids for quite afew years! So if you almost have a toddler or know of one here are some ideas to keep them entertained and learning at the same time.

The pieces are not in order and there was one piece missing at shooting time but he loves this one and he unstacks/stacks it daily and it was only $10.00

The abacus is one he plays with least at the moment but it will be a great learning tool soon, only $20.00

Could be wrong but from memory think I paid $20.00 for this too......Its a basic train set that can be easily extended with  extra tracks and fittings available at ikea. This one was put away for other day as my little one thought it was more fun to take it apart and throw the pieces around.....which is to be expected but the dog taking them into her kennel to have a chew was the deciding factor in putting it away for another day!

okay cant finish this blog now lol....cant seem to find photos uploaded days ago...will leave it here for now  and get back to it soon............

okay Im back, found the missing photos............

these stacking cups are great at only $3.50.....one cup is missing at time of shoot......multipurpose and functional for bath time, sandpit or used as dough cutters etc.....my little one can spend up to half an hour at a time stacking them and unstacking......they come in handy especially when waiting at the doctor's......

great push wagon at $39.00

this was a real good find at $49.00 we got the table and two chairs...sure we had to put it together but it was real easy!!

Re: great buys at ikea for baby

Sadly we dont have an Ikea close enough for me to spend all our money at it LOL! But those are great toys, I agree with you! DD1 still plays with her wooden train set after 4 years (and now DD2 is joining in, much to big sister's disapproval as she dismantles the carefully laid out track), the stacking cups were given her for a 1st birthday present - now I know where they were bought but I never worked out by whom! They get played with in the sandpit and the bath VERY often. We have a table & chairs that I bought off the tip - very useful (and I like the chairs to help me reach the top of my kitchen cupboards!). I bought a brick truck at a Nearly New NCT sale, and it has been very well used. The abacus is the only thing DD1 hasnt played with much, but DD2 likes to chew it, so its not a dead loss! Never got any rings, but I never saw any that nice or I would have! We have loads of the Ikea flower plates - great for food, great for art, dishwash brilliantly! Good tips Rue!

Ikea rocks! I got a convertable crib there, and it was less than 200 bucks. They all sell for over 400 in most of the stores here.

yeah, I have the high chair too. It's so awesome! and it's fairly portable too, the legs come off so easy.

Sadly, I have to stock up on Ikea stuff before we move, aparently it takes 3 months to have it shiped to Yellowknife! (the great white north)

Rue i think you picked up some real bargins....never thought of ikea,  for  selling childrens toys....think is great information for parents.

You sure do bring back memories for me as i grew up with many wooden toys....many a amusing hour i spent playing with them and when i left home, they were stil intact & were handed onto my brothers children.

Love Janice xxxx
