Re: Ok - now I'm really upset!
I'm feeling for you hun. We are paying of some debts too, and neither me or Les work, so not easy. One way we are coping is by over estimating our income to Centrelink. Not a help now, but at the end of the financial year, we get a nice lumpsum payment, and that gives us a head start for the next 12months.
We have also gone for the better internet plan, that is Unlimited Broadband, and while it is more expensive per month, it costs us less in the long run because we don't have to pay for extra downloads. Our landline is local calls only and we have a mobile each on a $20/month plan which gives us each 1 hour free talk time everyday (designated hour) and also some extra freebies etc.I know, not helping, but it does. By trying to reduce your everyday expenses and monthly household expenses, you are able to find extra money for the other things.
Maybe you could sell one car, drive your hubby to work and then use it during the day, meaning you would have to pick him up again. Or why not make him take public transport!
Most companies are happy with what is called a faith payment. This could be as little as $5 a week. Centrelink can also arrange for Centrepay, which means the money is paid to whoever before going into your account. Costs you nothing and the companies are not allowed to increase what you are paying. They want something from you, not always all of it at once. Don't let them bully you.
I wish I could help you more, but I can't even get a credit card! And we haven't found the magic powerball numbers yet. Chin up, and don't let it rule your life.
