School holidays are here again. Gee, the term goes quick! Only one term left of the school year already! Even scarier, the shops are starting to put out their christmas stock!
It's been a bit of an up & down year, especially with my eldest, Jess. She's officially a teenager now, but has had the attitude & moods of a teen for a long time. We've had quite a few arguements, one recently resulting in her cutting herself (with a safety pin) as she thought I didn't love her or didn't want her. I told her we are going to have plenty of argeuments but it will never, ever mean I don't love or want her. A friend recommended books by Michael Carr Gregg, a psychologist who has done a lot of work with kids. The friend bought me one of his books that is particularly good for dealing with girls - 'The Princess Bitchface Syndrome' - gotta love the name of it, lol! He has a website - www.michaelcarr-gregg.com.au - check it out. What I have read so far has been quite interesting & helpful (I found that my local library has many of his books, too).
Jess is going to stay a week of the holidays with my brother & his family. I thought a break from each other would be good & she will have a great time. She's going to stay a week & then I'm going to take my other kids up to have a few days with them, too. I'm really looking forward to it, especially seeing my gorgeous niece, Brodie (she's 3).
Hope you all have a great weekend! Stay safe. |
