This post is from from my other blog here Last summer we discovered 'Bob' in our backyard near the swing set. He quickly became a favorite, albeit new, friend of both The Princess and The Pea. Naturally a portrait was in order, and now, months later as I look back I'm glad we have it, not just so I have a photo fit for this week's photo hunt, no I'm thankful I took this picture because it's a visual prompt of the memory. A prompter of a memory of many long lazy days spent building houses and pools and whole neighborhoods for ...

This post is from from my other blog here Well, from the mouth of one of 'em anyway.
As you all know by now, The Princess is quite the verbal jouster; ever the champ at quickly, eloquently, and of course, innocently putting me in my place via the sugared spice, aka spoken words, that waft from her little lips. Lately, she's been in full force and true glory. Here, for your reading pleasure one of the many I've heard over the past few days.
The scenario: I'd just asked her to pick up the toys in the family room before lunch, as a rule when I've asked her to do something ...

This post is from from my other blog here In all these months in the blogosphere I've yet to participate in a Friday Feast and since this week's deals with my nerdy obession, aka resolutions, I've got to think there is no better time than now to give it a try! So, without further ado...
Appetizer - How do you usually celebrate on New Year's Eve?
It varies, but seems to be on a rotating schedule. One year we might go out to dinner and a show with friends, the next we might stay in with the kids and friends with their kids for a more family freindly celebration. ...

This post is from from my other blog here The FDA is reportedly at least a year from granting final approval for cloned meats and dairy products to be integrated into the American food supply but that isn't stopping the industry - and concerned consumers - from talking about what's to come now, especially since the approval looks as sure as... well, as sure as something that is as sure as you can get.
After all, cloning has been in the ethical debate spotlight for years; from the reproduction of rodents to the world-wide celebrity-slash-sheep Dolly - a clone, and beyond it's forever ...

This post is from from my other blog here Yesterday we took advantage of the first day of Christmas break, technically Christmas break for me started on December 14 and for The Princess on December 21, unfortunately yesterday was the first day we could manage to steal away and actually enjoy, with no prior engagements getting in the way. In three words: we were lazy. In three more: We loved it. Of course, the reality of the inevitable backlash of such a day has now set in and today will be nothing like yesterday. With that I give you my completely irrelevant (to you) Thursday Thirteen. Thirteen things ...

This post is from from my other blog here I've come to the point in my life where I can admit to my tendency towards nerdy-ness and no time of year brings about the blatant display of that very tendency like the new year does, what with it's resolutions and renewing spirit. So, I confess I am a resolution-making junkie, the mother of all resolution nerds. So, without further boring you to death I'll get right to the point.
There are two new posts up over at IndieMom, one on personal resolution making and one on resolution making family style Check them out, make ...

This post is from from my other blog here After last week's tackle I decided to take it easy this time around, besides, I'm no longer nesting. So, I tackled Target. I picked up a great wrapping paper organizer for just $6.00, something that was desperately needed around here. I was so sick of pulling wrinkled and torn wrapping paper out of storage year after year and getting annoyed at the waste. Problem solved. Of course while I was there I also had to pick up a couple little gifts sets for The Princess and The Pea, hello people 50% off! So they will be getting a ...

This post is from from my other blog here Dear morbidly obese woman in line behind me at Target (and all other obese parents who feel the need to pass their own bad health habits on to their children as if it were as perfectly acceptable a thing to pass down as eye color),As I was waiting to check out I glanced over my shoulder just in time to see you waddle up behind me with your son and daughter this morning. Now, as an American I'm not at all surprised at the sight I took in at that moment. After all, we've known for years that ...

This post is from from my other blog here So, a couple weeks ago I won a book from Plain Jane Mom in one of her awesome contests. On Wednesday it arrived in my mail box and I couldn't wait to tear into the envelope! You see, I am about 99.9% sure that this is the first thing I've ever won in my life that was purely 'luck-of-the-drawcomment'. Sure, I've won plenty of things through actual competition but just winning because lady luck was on my side? Never. I was elated to say the least.
Needless to say, when I opened the package I wanted to run ...

This post is from from my other blog here Tonight as The Knight and I discussed the essence of marriage I tried to explain my take on things.
"It's like... Ok, you know spaghetti is fine by itself." I said. "But, a good tomato sauce can really make it shine."
Meaning of course that I view the people in the marriage first as their own people, perfectly wonderful on their own, the spaghetti. And, the marriage then as something that gives the people a little spice, it accentuates them, the sauce. Obviously there is only one way a man could reply to this.
"Am I the three cheese sauce? Or the garden ...

This post is from from my other blog here Today, on religion watch: A modern day virgin birth - to octuplets, lieing: the new way to spread the gospel, plus a bonus feature, monks behaving badly. Definitely a must see, er.... read, don't you think?I'm not often compelled to blog about religion, there are probably many underlying reasons, but to put it most basically it's simply because no matter which side of the issue is thrown at me it annoys me. You could say it's one of my pet peeves. Not in low doses, but the longer I live the more and more I tend to find that the ...

This post is from from my other blog here So, this hasn't been a tackle it tuesday for me so much as a tackle-it-monday-and-tuesday, but what can you do? The holidays have me 'nesting'. So, I went through all the toys; The toys in The Princess' room, the toys in The Pea's room, even the toys in the playroom and purged, purged, purged. It felt good. Once I got that done I rearranged the playroom. I'm even proud to announce that the new layout is working spectacularly and gives the girls more floor-play space. YeeeHAWWW! After that, I cleaned out all closets and cabinents in the house, and once ...

This post is from from my other blog here I'm not usually one to post pictures of my family on my blog, actually I never have before. However, Sprittibee is running a contest, the prize is a paperback copy of Charlotte's Web along with some other great stuff. I have so many fond memories of that book from my childhood I can't possibly pass up the opportunity to win such a great prize pack. Of course the way you enter is to post your favorite winter picture on your blog and this is without a doubt my favorite winter picture at the moment. The Knight and The Pea ...

This post is from from my other blog here Over the past couple months is appears that blogger has been saving up all the comments fellow bloggers have been trying to leave here at Of The Princess and The Pea only to finally show them to me tonight when I upgraded to the new blogger. I was aware of the commenting trouble that had been going around but had NO idea what was happening here. I really want to apologize to those of you that left the TWENTY-SEVEN comments that have been seemingly lost in blogger-space for the past 2 months (give or take). I'll be commenting back ...

This post is from from my other blog here Well, once again I find myself returning from the inevitable ebb. The very brink I've come to find all too familiar since I began blogging. I think it's just time I come to terms with the fact that at times life will get in the way, college papers will have to be written, said papers will suck all creative energy out of my soul and the very thought of having to write will make my stomach turn. And, in those times this place will sit. Vacant. Dead. Silent. When I return I can't continue on with this, rambling about how ...
