Hi my name is Angela and I live with my partner Shaun and daughter Beth age 9 years in Walsall, West Midlands UK. I currently work as a Parent Support Advisor with the local education deptartment, but I am based in a local primary school. I have joined Minti to not only meet new people but also if I have any issues with the parents I deal with on a daily basis, I may be able to have some support from others on Minti.
My daughter Beth enjoys dancing - tap, modern and gym. My partner Shaun is a huge Manchester United fan. I enjoy reading, going to the gym but most of all being 'mom'.
I look forward to hearing from Minti members - new and old. Sorry but I have no photos at present. |

I have had an awful week, daughter Beth got Chicken Pox, so I have only been into work for 3 days. The caretaker at school seems to be on a go slow with my new office. I am trying to be very patient, but I think the girls in the school reception have had enough of me. Parents are ignoring my request for 'come in and make an apointment' to see me. I am very trying, but there is only so much you can do. Oh well, I am in the process of putting together my leaflet, perhaps that will convince them I am only human. I am also thinking of writing some e-books to sell on e-bay regarding parent support. Any ideas would be grateful. |

Friday was certainly a day when I could honestly say I had earnt my money. From 8.30am to 4.00pm I did not sit down to breath. I saw two parents, did one home visit, mentored a Year 6 pupil amongst completing the registers, ringing several parents regarding school trip money, attending a child concern meeting and writing up my notes. What a day. Although busy I really am enjoying this role. |

Well, what a day, my first Parent Support Advisor Newsletter went out on Tuesday 8th May, along with invites to 40 familes to make an appointment to see me with regards to discussing their child(ren)s attendance/punctuality/behaviour or what ever else is a cause of concern. We shall see what the response is over the next few days, apparently the parents liked the newsletter, the teachers were slightly critical - but aren't they always. Anyway I have broad shoulders - literally. Four families have made appointments to see me during the next couple of days, so progress is being made and it is early days. |
