Am I A Fireman Yet??
>
> In Queensland , Australia , a 26-year-old mother stared down at her 6
> year old son, who was dying of terminal leukaemia. Although her heart
> was filled with sadness, she also had a strong feeling of
> determination... Like any parent, she wanted her son to grow up & fulfil all his
> dreams..
>
> Now that was no longer possible. The leukaemia would see to that.. But
> she still wanted her son's dream to come true.
>
> She took her son's hand and asked, 'Ben, did you ever think about
> what you wanted to be once you grew up?
>
> Did you ever dream and wish what you would do with your life?'
>
> 'Mummy, I always wanted to be a fireman when I grew up.'
>
> Mum smiled back and said, 'Let's see if we can make your wish come
> true.'
>
> Later that day she went to her local fire Station in Brisbane , where
> she met Fireman Bob, who had a heart as big as Queensland .
>
> She explained her son's final wish and asked if it might be possible
> to give her 6 year old son a ride around the block on a fire engine.
>
> Fireman Bob said, 'Look, we can do better than that. If you'll have
> your son ready at seven o'clockWednesday morning, we'll make him an honorary
> fireman for the whole day.
>
> He can come down to the fire station, eat with us, go out on all the
> fire calls, the full Monty!
> And if you'll give us his sizes, we'll get a real fire uniform for
> him, with a real fire hat - not a toy -one with the emblem of the Queensland
> Fire & Rescue Department on it, a yellow slicker like we wear and rubber
> boots.
>
> They're all manufactured right here in Brisbane , so we can get them
> fast.'
>
> Three days later Fireman Bob picked up Ben, dressed him in his
> uniform and escorted him from his hospital bed to the waiting truck.
>
> Ben got to sit on the back of the truck and help steer it back to the
> fire station.
>
> He was in heaven. There were three fire calls in Brisbane that day
> and Ben got to go out on all three calls. He rode in the different fire
> engines that day.
>
> He was also videotaped for the local news program.
>
> Having his dream come true, with all the love and attention that was
> lavished upon him, so deeply touched Ben, that he lived three months
> longer than any doctor thought possible.
>
> One night all of his vital signs began to drop dramatically and the
> head Nurse, who believed in the hospice concept - that no one should die
> alone, began to call the family members to the hospital.
>
> Then she remembered the day Ben had spent as a fireman, so she called
> the Fire Station and asked if it would be possible to send a fireman in
> uniform to the hospital to be with Ben as he made his transition.
>
> The Officer in charge replied, 'We can do better than that.
>
> We'll be there in five minutes.
>
> Will you please do me a favour? When you hear the sirens screaming
> and see the lights flashing, will you announce over the PA system, that there
> is not a fire? It's the department coming to see one of its finest members
> one more time. And will you open the window to his room?
>
> About five minutes later a hook and ladder truck arrived at the
> hospital and extended its ladder up to Ben's third floor open window
> 16 fire-fighters climbed up the ladder into Ben's room.
>
> Wiith his mother's permission, they hugged him and held him and told
> him how much they LOVED him..
>
> With his dying breath, Ben looked up at the fire chief and said,
> 'Chief, am I really a fireman now?'
>
> 'Ben, you are, and the Head Chief, Jesus, is holding your hand,' the
> O.I.C said. With those words, Ben smiled and said, 'I know, He's been
> holding my hand all day, and the angels have been singing....' He closed his eyes
> one last time. |

my darling son who is now fully mobile decided to chase the cat (poor kitty). so heres the funny part, bruce was running up and down the hall way trying to get away from damien (every time damo got close bruce would jump over him) this went on for about an hour. till bruce had enough and jump on the couch.
k heres where the accident occured. bruce who was up out of the way was still the target. damien tried to grab his tail and pull him off the couch but missed the face planted hard agaisnt the side.
lucky no damage done but a very sore face and a very upset little boy. thank god
i dont think he learned his lesson as this morn hes back to chasing bruce. |
|
|
ok so as you all know damo is at the stage where is can almost crawl.
so my other baby bruce the cat was asleep on the floor near where damo was asleep, damo who woke up after a nap decided that he wants to pat the cat. (im teaching how to the gentle and hes getting it sometimes) so bruce was quite a fair distance from damo but the little "sweetie" decided to pull him self towards bruce. slowly at first then he got hold of the tail and pulled bruce to him (bruce wasnt pleased) after a few attempts of trying to eat the tail bruce hissed rolled over and moved furether away till damo got there too.
so bruce the cat had enough hissed at damo jumped on the couch and sat up there away from damo who cried cos he couldnt get bruce anymore.
also bruce hasnt every swiped at damo and im always there wen they play |

as its getting hotter and hotter here and my darling son is at the age of learning to swim so i took him down to the pool with a friend who has a son 3 weeks younger then my damo, we started off in the hydro pool as it was warmer and has little floaties for them (plus there was swimming classes on in thr big pool ). so here we are swimming away with our sons enjoying their squeals of joy when this old woman decided to tell us that our children are to young to learn to swim as the dont yet have to concept of wat it is. and if we were responcible parents we should wait till they are 4 yrs old to teach them to swim, needless to say we told her where to go and left the pool for a bigger one without the old people in it.
our sons were having the time of their lives splashing, squealing, dunking me. next time i need floaties as damo kept trying to go under.
i now have a very quiet house as damo has collasped from a hard day of splashing and squealing. plus a warm bath helps too.
whoopps i lied hes now awake and wants me. |
|
|
there i was enjoying a nice lie in as bub was sound asleep. when suddenly out of the blue comes a little voice saying dada. wat a lovely thing to wake up to but then came the talking, giggling, and squeals. so i rolled over and sat next to the cot and watched my little man eat his elephant toy (or try to) and talk to himself.
theres nothing nicer then listening to a child babble to themselves or as my gran calls them his angel friends. so up i get to feed him and change him and wat happens i put him down and over he rolls. feeding him is a challenge as he would rather play with everything near him or would rather roll away.
so i manage to change him and he spots the cat, poor cat, lucky damo cant crawl yet or the cats tail would have been in the mouth. he already grabs the collar and tries to pull him towards the cat.
the joys of having a bub hey |

after having a major fight with my son i gave in and brought a bath seat. now when its bath time we dont have a problem he loves splashing around in the water (more so cos i get wet) he even loves eating the soap.
the pther good thing i love about bath time is it puts him to sleep give him 20 mins and a warm bottle and he will be on the other side of nodland. |
|
|
damien has this annoying habit of rolling away when in changing him.
i mean its cute and all. could be worse he could run away or crawl (which he is close to doin). im tempted to currupt him. been told he has a beautiful smile and should be in shows and comps.
i might do it just to see wat happend.
his smile is addictive he lightens up everyones day. which is sweet. |
|
|
my poor son is really strainig to poop.
iv givin him stuff to help but its not working and his crying its making me upset as i dont like him crying.
i feel so sorry for him, needs more cuddles. yes he's fallin asleep poor darling, mummy cuddles always work. and so do poppy's |
|
|
theres nothing more happier then walking through the shops and having people comment on your childs beautiful smile. thats if he's not screaming his lungs out as we discovered today.
we think my darling son is teething though i think it might be a little early but a midwife said it could be so the poor thing is having to suck on cold things till i find out from the drs wat it is that is making him cry. we've already discovered that he has to have a little solids as he gets hungry alot.
he loves potatoes and carrots mashed up. oh the joys of being a mother |
