Our cat Puss got hit by a car yesterday, I found him on our nature strip yesterday morning. It is such a horrible thing to happen. The kids are extremely upset. Bree stayed home from school as we all couldnt stop crying.

The story of how we got Puss was kind of weird but here goes:

My mum and dad live out of town, and we where staying with them while we looked for our own house as we had just moved back to town from Dalby. It was September 06. We had seen this feral cat quiet a few times but only ever got a glimps of her as she would run away as soon as she seen anyone. Bree started putting food out for her when we would go to bed. She started to get used to us all and would come and eat with us around. Bree and my dad (poppy) where the only once that could pat her. That took them weeks to do that. We could all tell she was pregnant as she was getting quiet big... Bree and my mum (annie) set up a box for her beside her food bowls for her to have the kittens in. We didnt actually think she would have them in there. But she did. And she would even let us all pat them. She would push the kittens out to us so we could hold them. There was this little black and white kitten that the mother cat would always bring out to me. If i was sitting at the outdoor table she would bring him to me and plonk him on my lap. As they grew up, they definatly had the feral cat insticts, as they would all hide from us and when we put the food out for them only a couple would come out to feed while you stood there. We hardly ever seen the mother cat anymore she would come back to feed them acouple of times a day, and then dissapear again.

WE finally found our own house in town and moved. Bree missed the kittens and mother cat heaps. Oneday Dan, Taj and i went out to mum and dads to pick up a few more things and the kittens had grown heaps now. they where running and climbing on everything. We where just about to go again when i was patting the kittens that would let me get close enough to them. When the little black and white kitten the mother cat used to dump on my lap came out to me and jumped on my lap. So we brang him home. I rang mum at work and told her we had brang him home with us. She couldnt believe it, she never seen that kitten since they started getting around ont here own. He would hide from everyone, even when the food was put our. He wouldnt come out until no-one was around. Mum would only see him every couple of days. Bree was SOO happy when she came home from school and we told her.

 It took me weeks to get him to trust me, he would only come out for food and to use the litter tray. And then it would be at nite when we had gone to bed. He never went outside just used to hide in the house. Once i got his trust he was the best cat id ever had. He was so affectionate to us all. At night he would hear me tell the kids toilet and teeth, he would run into the bathroom and wait for them to brush their teeth, then he would run into their rooms. I always tuck Taj in 1st so he would wait on Taj's bed. Taj would give him a kiss and cuddle and say good night. Puss would then run to Bree's room and sit on her bed and wait for her to get in. She would also give him a kiss and cuddle, he would lay with her on the end of her bed until she was asleep. Then he would go bak in and check on Taj. It was the funniest thing for a cat to do. Once both kids where asleep he would come out and sit and watch tv with me, until i went to bed. He would sleep on my bedside table as Dan didnt like him on the bed. If Dan was out hunting for the nite pus would sneek into my bed with me, it was our secret lol.

He was the best cat ive ever had and ever will. He understood me. If i was upset he would come and cuddle up to me. He would just follow me around all day, helping do the house work. Have you ever seen a cat that would love to get in the bath?? When the kids where in the bath we had to lock him out of the bathroom, he would sit at the door and cry but we had too or he would get in the bath with the kids and make the biggest mess everywhere.

I dont know what im goin to do without him, its only been one day and i miss him so much it hurts. with everything i do, i expect him to be there helping me. I even put his milk and biccies their for him this morning and then remembered.

Our two dogs have been laying on his resting place since i buried him there yesterday arvo. Its pouring rain and they just wont move. After i found puss in the morning i put his body on the back of Dan's ute & put a blanket over him. The dogs where both laying with him all day. Billy our male dog was nudging him every now and then it was so sad to watch. The dogs never tryed to eat puss. It was funny the dogs would chase Puss then Puss would turn and chase the dogs. (your got to remember we have hunting/piggin dogs) Dan mate would make fun of him about his dogs how they would run away from a little cat lol.

I hope it gets easier soon.

Well this is my 1st blog on the minti site. By the way i LUV this site. I came accross it by accident when searching for some info on TERRIBLE TWO'S.

My daughter B (now 7yrs old) totally skipped that phase of toddlerhood. I dont know why, but she never went through the TERIBLE TWO'S.  I'm paying for it now!!! My son T is making up for what his big sister skipped & is giving us all a DOUBLE DOSE! LOL. I have found heaps of hints and tips on the minti site that i have given a go. Some have worked with T and some havent, at this point we will try just about anything. Well within reason anyway. So if anyone else has a great tip to help our little man (& us) through this phase of T's life, drop me a line and let me know.
