Toilet training steps up a phase

Comment Published at 01:1501:155 comments5 comments169 Visits169 VisitsReport
Okay, Toilet training is what has got my hubby spooked. For the last couple of months Codi has been in pull ups. Today as he nears two and a half was the day to...

1. Change to cot into the toddler bed setting...

2. Start wearing undies (thank the heavens for bob the builder undies and target)

So far it's going fine, I know what I am in for (night ventures around the house) and accidents, but I am fully committed to it.

It funny the different cultures, do different things...apparently in Malaysia all kids are toilet trained by the age of two, I am not saying that is better than us, I am just saying it makes me think, "I'll give this a try"...before I was pretty laxed about it all and to be honest wasn't really interested in toilet training Codi and liked that the pull ups were for me an easy option.

So I realised for me, I need to do it fully commited before any pregnancy...the good thing is I will adjust and not put Codi under any pressure, but if I don't try we both won't know the feeling for the need to go to toiley...

Fingers crossed...

toilet training

after experiencing toilet training with my eight children i have decide when my ninth miracl-Dylan wants to or shows any interest i'm going to pounce and get him trained before he knows it because Derick (no.8)was wanting to and i was pretty laidback in thinking when he shows more interest than i'll try.He is trained now and its great!

Good luck with Codi

Potty training
Rachel, no one really potty trains in the States anymore until kids are 3 or almost 4.  So I'm thinking you probably shouldn't be too worried about where Australia is on the Potty Training Continuum.  LOL.

Or should I say, "American Standard Training."  ha, ha, ha.

Total Commitment

Good idea. I think being totally committed to the process is important. Did you ever read my Potty Training story?? I was in the thick of it hard core and it worked!  Good luck Rach.

Good luck
Just remember that one bad day doesnt mean a relapse - I recall one time we had been dry for months in the daytime and we had a day of accidents all day long.  I despaired until I realised that this was the first time in such a long time and then, it didnt happen again after that either!  Just one very bizarre day.
Peace

Toilet training steps up a phase
i started getting serious about toilet training around this age with madeleine and honestly, i think it goes quicker when they start later!  same thing--pullups for a long time before taking the plunge.  good luck!  and i agree those character undies work wonders.  :)
