Counselling session friday

Comment Published at 18:1418:143 comments3 comments175 Visits175 VisitsReport
Had a great counselling session friday as a check up. I must say a friend of mine, used the right words to describe the result I was feeling and that was "empowered"... great word. I must say finding the right counsellor that clicks and gets you was extremely helpful. I feel a sense of trust which is nice and that she is helping us with the process of saying goodbye. We can plant a little rose plant and plant underneath our babys ashes and encouraged us to find a name. I also really like the advice she gave me on talking about this event with my son, in simple terms. I did sense he knew something was up when he came to the hospital. So I will put together a light and simple story down on paper. I agree that it is good to let kids know as she said, that loss is a part of life as well as death. But in age appropriate words and concepts.

So, I do feel happy to live in the moment and not try and hurry the process. The place I am in now, is a very happy and relaxed place. I get tired like every mum/mom, but I am myself which is important.

My little man is really into laughter and humor at the moment, how wonderful.

Your doing Fine
Hey Rachel, just wanted to say you sound like you are doing ok hang in there, i of all people know how hard it is as i to lost a little one, but everything you are doing right now is soooo right and its a long hard road to healing. With both my girls we talked about baby Samantha being in heaven and as i have a scar when the girls see me without clothes they point and say that was where baby sam was. Like you we also made a special garden for sam's ashes, when the girls get older they can sit there for quiet time and talk to their baby sister if they wish to. For me its been 11mths but i like to think i'm a strong person, keep going on the path you are taking Rachel believe me when i say it does get better with time slowly but it does get better. Your doing wonderful.

Great to hear Rachel...

This is great news Rachel.  Sounds like you have found a wonderful person to talk to...  It does help a lot when you can find someone to click with.

When you say your little man is into laughter and humor at the moment I don't know why but I automatically thought of the movie cars.... LOL Does he like this? My son just loves it and smiles all the way though except for one part where there is an accident on the tracks at the beginning of the movie and there is one car ontop of another.. My son runs from the telly as if he thinks the cars are going to run into him....

A childs laughter is oh so healing as well...   Glad to hear that you are empowered.. I like this word....
