Different countries have different Father's Days

Comment Published at 14:1014:108 comments8 comments306 Visits306 VisitsReport
Hey I have just discovered something interesting to me. I am currently in the US and Father's Day is celebrated in the third week of June.

In Australia we celebrate Father's Day the first week of September :0)

True?

Isn't it funny how I/we assume that everyone would celebrate such things on the same day....I mean, why would you think otherwise?

Re: Different countries have different Father's Days
Awesome innit?  I have been in the UK 19 years nearly and every year my parents have enjoyed two mothers days and two fathers days.  In the UK mothers day is two or three weeks before easter and May, Fathers days being in June and September.
It does mean organising to have a spare card bought and stashed, or made for the other one, but it seems more and more people in the past couple of years are indulging in other holidays that are not necessarily from their country because of internet card sites that of course promote occasions that are coming up in their locality.
Make the most of it!!!  And dont forget about Grandparents day!
Peace

Re: Different countries have different Father's Days
I have been away from Australia now near on 8 years.... And ever since then I have forgotten fathers day every time since... Fathers day here is on the 17th of June...   I always get confused so have decided that my dad can have two fathers day.. I celebrate fathers day here for him ring him up, and my sister does the same for him on his day...   My mother is a little jealous because he gets it twice (mothers day here is the same as Australia)....

One day I may just get around to remembering the Australian one... :)
