I'm an older mom with one son who is 18 years old. I decided to sign up for the Minti site because it looks like it offers a bit more than some of the other family sites I've checked out. I'm very glad to see the read and write advice areas and it brings back distant memories of using Compuserve groups many, many years ago as I attempted to figure out this new thing called parenting that I was trying to do.
My son is a pretty sweet kid who has been home-schooled and thus has a broad and slightly different education background than other teenagers his age. In addition, his dad is the one who stayed at home with him after he turned 5 while I went out and battled the corporate world so we definitely don't quite fit into the what is considered a normal mode for a family.
My son likes legos and has come up with stories and buildings which have been posted at his site legosville.net. My husband and I both have software development backgrounds although my husband is semi-retired at the moment. I am in the midst of getting a new business started up which is both exciting and a bit scary at times. Fortunately my husband and I have both run our own business before so it's a little less scary and I actually have a better idea of what not to do.
Not much else, we are pretty boring but then I believe I have enough excitement to last me for a wee bit of time. |
