Vegie Patch in Pots

Comment Published at 18:1218:121 comments1 comments7 Visits7 VisitsReport

With the future banning of irrigation in most river systems, I figured that the price of fruit and vegies are going to go up huge soon, so I thought thats it i'm going to make me a vegie patch.  But because we are renting I didn't want to put them in the ground.  So my mum and I were talking yesterday and she gave me a great idea, a vegie patch in pots.  So I went and got some old pots off people as well as some buckets and drilled holes in the bottom of the buckets.  And tomorrow I'm going opshopping looking for a baby bath to grow potatoes and strawberries in.

So far I've planted two tomato plants, cos lettuce, beetroot and a chilli plant.  Tomorrow I'm going to go and get some herbs, onions, spring onions, leek, brocoli and cauliflower.  It's a shame that fruit trees don't grow well in pots too, because I would love apple trees, lemon trees and orange trees.  But that will have to wait till I get my farm.

Re: Vegie Patch in Pots
This is a fantastic idea - all winter I have been thinking about doing the same thing.  It seems the time has come to get on to it - thanks so much for the reminder.
