Had a great night last night. Alexis was in bed by 8:00, which isn't bad for her lately, and Zach was ready for a night of sleep by 9:00. So Momma slept from 9:15 to 5:30 woohoo!!!
Well, today was my first day taking both the kids out, by myself to a store. We had an appt to get pictures taken this morning. It was at an Olan Mills in Kmart. I wasn't thrilled about going to Kmart, but it was better than trying to navigate with them through the mall. We don't have a double stroller (yet), so I put Zach in the stroller, so I wouldn't have to carry around the carseat, and I had to talk to Alex and make sure she stayed close to me (on her own volition) and hold my hand through the parking lot. I was very anxious about if I was going to be able to handle them both at the same time. It went well, I was surprised. After the pictures were done, Zach was hungry. So while I was looking at the pictures on the computer I was making a bottle. I fed him for just a few minutes until we left the studio (it was way to small to hang out and finish feeding him in). I couldn't walk, push the stroller, feed the baby and keep Alexis close so we walked straight out to the car. I put everyone in the car, but then I realized I'd have to stand outside of the car and hold the bottle (for at least 20 minutes). So, thought #2 came to me. Luckily I was parked right by a shopping cart, so I put the baby and his carseat in the front part of the shopping cart, then had my daughter sit in the shopping cart itself, and we went back into Kmart and walked around until the baby was done eating. Everyone was safe in the cart, and Zach was getting to eat. It all worked out, and at the end I was proud of myself for being able to handle them both by myself.
Of course, going back into Kmart cost me $40 that I wouldn't have normally spent, but if the only downside was shopping, then I can handle it! |
