Re: Why Supernanny's Breastfeeding Advice is Super Stupid...

Now why does that not surprise me. I could understand someone saying, "introduce a bottle of breast milk early, incase of emergency later, and so it is not too alien for bub".However to actively promote bottle feeding to breast fed bubs is just the hight of stupidity and arrogance. As for sleeping while feeding, some of my most precious memories, are of sitting quietly with my bubs sleeping in my arms after a good feed. I was very sad at not managing to breast feed for long, but would never ever promote bottle feeding over breast. I only ever read one book, which was given to me for a laugh, about potty training. I found that very quickly, my bubs would let me know exactly how they liked things and when they were ready for a step up. Oh and I so agree with Flicka, Never say Never, it is such a catalist in real life.

Re: Why Supernanny's Breastfeeding Advice is Super Stupid...

Never liked the woman anyway.  Was on holidays and watched an episode of her show (which was rare since I think she has no clue!) and while I was watching her show I had my 2 year old in my lap feeding as she went to sleep.  She had her hair pulled back in its harsh way, those odd-looking glasses on that make her look like some nightmare headmistress from an exclusive all-girls private school, pointing her finger and looking directly at the viewers through the screen and she said: It is NEVER ok to put your child to sleep on the couch.  It is NEVER ok to feed your child to sleep!

I lifted a finger to the screen and said to myself Until you have children yourself, you have no rights saying it's "Never" ok to do something.

Never and Always are terms that are rarely used by me.  I think she has a lot to learn.  I really also think she ought to be sued.  I fear for the babies or mothers who read this bs and follow it.  I put her way up there with Gina Ford, whom I also stay right away from for the same reasons.  I feel so sad for the mothers and babies who follow that kind of advice, they miss out on so much and don't even realise it.
