My daugther is 20 months old and named Shilah. Ofcourse I want to be bias and tell you she is the most beautiful girl in the world but i think we all believe our own is best. She gave me a little grief coming into the world and took about seven - eight weeks to start sleeping well for me, but now she is just a gem and only gets me up once a night. I have been blessed with a very happy, healthy baby and i guess you couldn't ask for any more than that...
Unfortunately, her father and i broke up about a week before i found out i was pregnant... due to a lot of unforeseen events, we were unable to contact one another until Shilah was six months old. When I finally did run into him we tried to make things work and have him as an active part in our lives but due to Shilah's well being we have broken contact and I am yet again raising my daughter on my own - power to single parents!! HAHA
I come from a large family - three sisters, two brothers, 8 nieces and 4 nephews with another on the way! I'm the youngest of my siblings and the closest in age to me is seven years older and the furthest 18 years older!! So as you can imagine i grew up quite fast and feel beyond my years.
I had planned to be a stay at home mum until Shilah was preferably 2, however due to financial difficulties, I had to return to work when she was 10 months. Surprisingly I do not regret my decision! and as I'd spent most of the pregnancy off work, I felt like I was losing my social skills and confidence, which this job has regained for me! I only work 3 days ...

Hello!!!!
OMG! I can't believe how long I've left it since I have been on here to say hello to everyone and to check out how everyone is going. Life is so hectic now!! Shilah is now 14mths!! And she is still an absolute angel of a child - I can't believe how blessed I am!!
I'm working three days a week now. I was sick of having to count every single penny and constantly going without luxuries because we couldn't afford them and I love what I do!! Just working in an office and the work is easy and I don't have to worry about taking things home with me ~ so much better than when I was selling insurance!!
I'm still single. I have been man-fasting since I split with Shilah's father because I am sick of meeting idiots all the time!! And you wouldn't believe the amount of people who want you when you've decided you need a break!! LOL!! Ahhh..... one day, when I'm ready, I'll find the right person - I have no illusions about that.
As for my family, there have been separations, new babies, pregnancies, reconciliations, heart-attacks and the rest. Everyone is ok for now, however my uncle is going in for a quadruple bipass so fingers crossed everyone that he comes through ok.
We've discovered that Shilah is allergic to cow's milk - damn!! So I've had to put her on soy milk and she is doing much better, so if anyone knows anything about babies that can't even have biscuits etc with cows milk let me know - I need recipes!!! HAHA!!
Well I've missed you all so much and promise to start making more of an effort!!
Take care!!!

Monday night - another week gone, another week begins. It can seem monotonous sometimes like i'm dragging my feet but then i realise a whole month has passed and i'm wondering what i've done with my time (apart from spending time with my gorgeous girl, ofcourse - i wouldn't change that for a minute!!)
What i would change is the grizzly that's moved into my daughter!! hehe! She's giving me grief again because she is teething really bad. If i lift up her top lip i can see about six teeth bulging out of her gums!!! they are still completely under the gum but only just!! the poor little girl tho - they must be giving her hell *sniff* i know they are giving me hell!! haha!!
i can't believe that her birthday is coming up!!! well, it's three months away, but still.... it's not far off!! considering i don't feel like i've had her a year yet.... hmmmmmm.... my poor little darling.... growing up so fast!
Oh!! she can stand on her own now. even stand up from the sitting position without holding on. and she is saying so many words!! bubba, bub, mum, muma, dad, dadda and BALL!!! what nine month old kid knows how to say ball??? and can identify a ball??? well, my daughter, that's who! i'm so proud!!
I took some pics of shilah tonight (ok, a lot of pictures) so i've added a couple on for your viewing pleasure. Hope you had a wonderful start to the week!

Another fond childhood memory I have was on cool, damp n overcast mornings my friends and I would get up early and go hunting for slugs and snails in my backyard and make homes for them in icecream containers. We used to pack them with grass and then put holes in the lids so they could still breathe, or cover them with glad wrap with holes so we could see what they were doing inside.
Gotta love my mum though, coz she'd always get rid of them before they died (or so we thought anyway). :D |
