Officially bunked

Emily and Thiago's beds got bunked today! They were so excited! They've been waiting for a couple of weeks, because I thought they could finally handle it, but Emily has been in the horrible habit of getting up at night and coming to our bed for awhile now, so I told her she'd have to stop doing that to get bunk beds. I didn't want to have to worry about her climbing down the ladder in the dark in the middle of the night! Well, she's made it for about two weeks, so I thought it was time to try it!

So, after everything was all bunked, getting them to the beds was no problem, however, convincing Thiago that he had to sleep on the bottom and that the ladder is specifically for getting to the top and nothing else made it a bit of a challenge to actually get them to sleeping positions! It's really nice how much more space they have in there now. Maybe they will actually play in there for once instead of all over the rest of the house. Wishful thinking, I know.

That was definitely our excitement for the day! They behaved themselves most of the day and didn't beat each other up, which is always a bonus! Juan was even on his best behavior for once. I told him he'd be ungrounded next week if he can show me the better side of his personality this weekend, so I think he's actually taking that seriously for once! He even cleaned the bathroom like I asked him to! It was amazing!

Re: Officially bunked

It's STILL a grand time! I think it might actually take a few days to get over the excitement of this big change!

wow i dreamed of bunk when i was much younger, never happened though....it seemed back then all the cool kids had bunks including the Brady kids.....

Im sure the kids will love the new arrangement and we can only hope that more play will happen in their room, saving you time in the other main rooms lol

The Brady kids?! That is so funny!

used to envy my friends with bunks too, although I think they didn't care about them that much. I'm sure they envied me with a bedroom all to myself! You always want what you don't have, huh?

Re: Officially bunked

If they would continue to be good, that would be GREAT! As long as they don't try and "fly" off the top bunk I will be happy! They have been forewarned that flying will be just cause for UNbunking the beds, so hopefully that warning will work!

Re: Officially bunked

Someone had a good weekend with well behaved kids!!!! Always feel amazing! LOL Getting them to do what we've asking can feel like an up hill battle, so when they just go ahead and do it, it sure gives us the wow factor!!!! I had bunks as a kid. They make great cubby houses LOL

Here's hoping the kids keep up the good work. Have a great week Sarah!

Re: Officially bunked

Well, the weekend isn't over here yet, but it's still going well!

Bunk beds ARE fun! I remember I always wanted a set as a kid. You're right, they are fun to turn into forts. I was going to show them how to do that today, but haven't gotten around to it. Emily is having enough fun setting all of her stuffed animals on the blades of the ceiling fan for now. Aaahhh! I hope she will get over that. The only thing that does worry me a bit is when the ceiling fan's on! We shall survive!
