I am a research dentist working on how food is trapped and changed to acid between teeth and inside grooves

Almost all cavities occur where food is trapped and changed to acid  between teeth and inside grooves on chewing surfaces where the brush cannot reach even if convenient after every meal or snack.

It is not easy to avoid sugar and starch but it is not hard to have some peanuts to chew before every meal or snack to prevent food being trapped and changed to acid while eating.

Also to chew a few peanuts or cheese, especially with celery string, for a few minutes after eating, to help saliva displace trapped food, neutralise acid and repair demineralised tooth.
