myself - before cutting my hair (big mistake!)

Hi everyone! My name is Tammy and I have a small family, which includes my husband (who finally joined Minti - blackforrest , my 6 year-old son, a cat, and myself. One day we're going to also have a dog...

Our son’s name – Gilad – means “Endless Joy” - which he is!

My husband have 2 more daughters - the oldest is 19 and the youngest 14 (lives with her mum).

One of the main reasons I’m here is to increase the awareness towards PEANUTS & NUTS ANAPHYLAXIS ALLERGY in kids - My son have peanut allergy, and I welcome anything you want to ask or say about it. You are all welcome to join the Minti anaphylaxis group

My husband and i just opened a PEANUT FREE BAKERY is called NO PEANUTS NO WORRIES - cakes, cookies, pastries, Italian desserts - all without peanuts and nuts traces! read more about it here

NO PEANUTS NO WORRIES – BAKERY FOR CAKES, COOKIES, PASTRIES WITH NO PEANUTS & NUTS TRACES

Comment Published at 16:3716:370 comments0 comments9 Visits9 VisitsReport

Ladies & Gentlemen, peanuts and nuts and traces free cakes and cookies are finally here! NO PEANUTS NO WORRIES, my bakery,  has cakes and cookies and other products that are peanuts & nuts free! NO PEANUTS, NO NUTS, NO TRACES, NO WORRIES!

I sometimes think that kids movies provide great lines. Like the one from “Robots”: SEE A NEED – FILL A NEED.

The need was there. There is no (at least I haven’t found one) bakery that can guarantee no nut traces cakes. And when it comes to cakes and cookies – it is so so difficult to find them! On the odd occasion one can fine simple cake in a supermarket, but even that becomes a rare thing. With cookies and biscuits it’s the same story. So up until now, my son (who has anaphylaxis peanuts allergy) enjoyed cakes only when his father, who just happens to be a pastry cook, cooked something at home. And going to birthday parties was always a problem.

So the need was there. And we decided to fill it.

We opened a bakery which is called: NO PEANUTS NO WORRIES. Here is the logo:

(see our policy below)

We provide for businesses and privates cakes and cookies. Our cakes and cookies are great and we have lots of Italian special ones. And the main thing – no nuts, no peanuts.

Here are some of our products (too bad I can't import a real cake here...)

I hope you will all help me “spread the word” about my new bakery, so kids and their families can finally enjoy good quality cakes that are “clean” from peanuts and nuts.

Tips for a Better Life - 2008

Comment Published at 21:0421:042 comments2 comments17 Visits17 VisitsReport

1. Take a 10-30 minute walk every day. And while you walk, smile. It is the ultimate anti-depressant.

2. Sit in silence for at least 10 minutes each day.

3. Buy a DVR and tape your late night shows and get more sleep.

4. When you wake up in the morning complete the following statement, 'My purpose is to __________ today.'

5. Live with the 3 E's -- Energy, Enthusiasm, and Empathy.

6. Play more games and read more books than you did in 2007.

7. Make time to practice meditation, and prayer. They provide us with daily fuel for our busy lives.

8. Spend time with people over the age of 70 and under the age of 6.

9. Dream more while you are awake.

10. Eat more foods that grow on trees and plants and eat less food that is manufactured in plants.

11. Drink green tea and plenty of water. Eat blueberries, wild Alaskan salmon, broccoli, almonds & walnuts.

12. Try to make at least three people smile each day.

13. Clear clutter from your house, your car, your desk, your mind and let new and flowing energy into your life.

14. Don't waste your precious energy on gossip, OR issues of the past, negative thoughts or things you cannot control. Instead invest your
energy in the positive present moment.

15. Realize that life is a school and you are here to learn. Problems are simply part of the curriculum that appear and fade away like algebra
class but the lessons you learn will last a lifetime.

16. Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a college kid with a maxed out charge card.

17. Smile and laugh more. It will keep the NEGATIVE BLUES away.

18. Life isn't fair, but it's still good.

19. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone.

20. Don't take yourself so seriously. No one else does.

21. You don't have to win every argument. Agree to disagree.

22. Make peace with your past so it won't spoil the present.

23. Don't compare your life to others'. You have no idea what their journey is all about.

24. No one is in charge of your happiness except you.

25. Frame every so-called disaster with these words: 'In five years, will this matter?'

26. Forgive everyone for everything.

27. What other people think of you is none of your business.

28. However good or bad a situation is, it will change.

29. Your job won't take care of you when you are sick. Your friends will. Stay in touch.

30. Get rid of anything that isn't useful, beautiful or joyful.

31. Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need.

32. The best is yet to come.

33. No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up.

34. Do the right thing!

35. Call your family often. (Or email them to death!!!)

36. Each night before you go to bed complete the following statements: I am thankful for __________. Today I accomplished _________.

37. Remember that you are too blessed to be stressed.

38. Enjoy the ride. Remember this is not Disney World and you certainly don't want a fast pass. You only have one ride through life so make the  most of it and enjoy the ride.

UK removed The Holocaust ... more to come

Comment Published at 13:3913:392 comments2 comments82 Visits82 VisitsReport

on the other hand, AFTER WRITING MY PREVIOUS BOLG, I found the following info on the net:

E-mails are circulating, falsely claiming the UK has banned schools from teaching pupils about the Holocaust.

The suggestion is that this was done by the government to avoid offending some Muslim communities.

The source of the rumour may be a report that some history teachers were uncomfortable with sensitive subjects.

In fact the government has reaffirmed that in England, teaching children about the Holocaust is compulsory, and it is not banned elsewhere in the UK.

A number of people have contacted the BBC News website querying e-mails they have been sent.

One example is headed "In Memoriam".

It says: "Recently this week, UK removed The Holocaust from its school curriculum because it 'offended' the Moslem [sic] population which claims it never occurred."

It adds: "This is a frightening portent of the fear that is gripping the world and how easily each country is giving into it."

'Emotive'

The report that may have given rise to the alarm was commissioned by England's Department for Education and Skills from the Historical Association, which promotes the study and teaching of history.

It said: "Teachers and schools avoid emotive and controversial history for a variety of reasons, some of which are well-intentioned.

"Staff may wish to avoid causing offence or appearing insensitive to individuals or groups in their classes.

"In particular settings, teachers of history are unwilling to challenge highly contentious or charged versions of history in which pupils are steeped at home, in their community or in a place of worship."

'Holocaust denial'

The report gave as an example a history department in "a northern city" which "recently avoided selecting the Holocaust as a topic for GCSE coursework for fear of confronting anti-Semitic sentiment and Holocaust denial among some Muslim pupils".

The government said there was scope for schools to make their own decisions on what to teach within England's national curriculum.

But a spokesman for England's Department for Education and Skills added: "Teaching of the Holocaust is already compulsory in schools at Key Stage 3 .

"It will remain so in the new KS3 curriculum from September 2008."

He said Education Secretary Alan Johnson himself had stressed this.

There are separate national curriculums in Wales and in Northern Ireland, and 5-14 Guidelines in Scotland.

In those, Holocaust teaching is not compulsory but schools may teach it if they wish and this has not changed recently.

In Northern Ireland, for example, the Holocaust is given as an example of some of the things pupils "should" study.
