I can't believe my sweetheart is almost 15 weeks old! He is a little over 3 months and sooo big! I read that babies between this age weigh an average of 9 to 14 pounds. Of course boys do tend to be larger, but my baby is 15 pounds! Although, he is not overly "chubby", he's just the perfect weight. He's very healthy looking, mentally and physically. I cannot believe how much he's grown. Everyday you notice something new. Whether it's the way he responds to you, or looks, or acts...it's just something new and exciting for one to grasp as a parent. Just a few weeks ago I remember he grabbed his first toy, by accident of course because his hand coordination isn't fully developed, but now he's grabbing at everyhing haha. And, the thing he likes to grab the most is my hair! grrr haha. My hair is rele long and he tend to just get a hold of it and not let go! He's got such a strong grip. It's unbelievable that for someone so little he is so strong. He's already trying to stand! Everytime I lie him down on my lap or put him in his bouncer he's constantly trying to push himself up and stand! He's just way ahead of himself:P He's gotta realize his little legs aren't strong enough yet:(. Nor is his spine. I've noticed he's a lot more interactive with everyone and everything. I bought him this baby Einstein aquarium type thing where it's a glass aquarium in a toy turtle's tummy. And it plays music and lights up and the two little plastic fishes in it swim around by magnets. It's soo cool and he seems to love it! Sometimes he won't take his eyes of it. And, I was noticing sometimes that when I clapped or said his name he wouldn't look at me and would struggle to find the sound, but I read that they don't really develop a sense of where the sound comes from until their about 4 months old. So really, their eyes develop more before their ears. Although, he follows me when I walk around, even if I am moving fast which I read they're not really good at yet, but he seems to be doing fine for 3 months old. As for the breast feeding, it's going amazing. I will breast feed as long as I can. I'm probably going to go up to a year and then subsitute with real milk like your supposed to. I'm pretty sure you give them 1% homogenized milk. I'll have to check up on that though, in case I'm wrong. But even after that, I will continue to feed him breast milk, at least a bottle or two a day even after a year. I want to continue to have it in his diet because it is the BEST for him. He's got a diaper rash and I read the best treatment is of course Zinc cream, and to just let the air get at it. I place Alix on a towel with his diaper off, bare butt, and the air gets to his bottom and helps heal the rash. And, for the few days I've been doing that, I've noticed the rash goes away! But that's about it for now. I'm going to post some articles about breast feeding and rashes because I think my opinion needs to be heard. I know tons of people who don't breast feed simply because they do not want to. And, I want to address that issue. |
