Bloody men!

Comment Published at 16:2516:2522 comments22 comments41 Visits41 VisitsReport

Men are so bloody frustrating! James hasn't spoken to me since aoubt 9.45 last night when I got home from a mystery host Lorraine Lea Linen party last night - well apart from a goodbye & kiss when he went to work this morning. The story starts yesterday when James got home from work while I was giving the kids tea...James was late....I dished up tea for us & said to the kids "are you going to be good for dad tonight?" and James said "oh, are you going somewhere?" - but he said it like he knew but didn't want me to go. I said "yes I told you everyday for the last week that I'm going to Mandy's mystery host party"....he said "well don't buy anything" and I told him I wasn't going to & he told me I always say that & I always come up with a reason to buy something. Now, the idea of the mystery host party is that you get there & write your name down & put it a bag & after Mandy shows all the stuff she draws a name out of the bag....I won this time! YAY! I ended up with about $130 to spend so I got Oscar's underlay for his big boy bed (when he goes into it) & a doona cover for him for nothing. While I was there Mandy & I got talking about how her son, Lauchie (4), has all of a sudden started getting upset when she turns into the street where his daycare is (he goes to a lady that looks after about 8 kids in her home)...she has spoken to him & to the lady that looks after him & can't work out why. I said I would have him - it's only 2 or 3 days a week & probably only for the next 6-8 weeks anyway. She said that would be fantastic, but was I sure & she would pay me to have him. I said it would be fine & the kids would love having him here. We talked about it a bit more & worked out it would be for about 7 hours a day & she will pay me $20 a day, which I think is good as it will be a little extra cash for us & someone for the boys to play with & they get along really well. So, when I got home last night I told James I won the mystery host & got Oscar's underlay (which was needed) and a doona cover for him (he doesn't have any of his own) for free & James said "but how much did you have to buy to get them for nothing!". I explained I didn't have to pay a cent as I won the mystery host & got 10% of all sales to spend...I am not sure he believes me but he was sort of ok after I explained. The I told him I am going to look after Lauchie a few days a week & he went off! He said what happens if she cancels where he goes now & I can't look after him & I told him I will be fine as he's a good kid & gets along well with the boys. He then said I have enough to do now & I said I will manage fine & it's a little extra cash & he said "fuck all for too much, why do you do these things!" & stopped talking to me! I really don't see what the big problem is, I will still be home with our 2 boys & getting things done while earning a little cash. I am not giving in this time though, I WANT to do this & I am going to do it!

Anyway, sorry for the winge! LOL! Easter was great, we went to Port Macdonald where my mum & stepdad were staying on Friday afternoon until Sunday afternoon & had fun. The weather was really windy & cool on Saturday but we got to see some boats go out & have a play on the playground with the boys. Sunday was great & I set up an easter egg hunt for our boys & my 2 cousins & everyone got a bit of choccy. It was nice enough to go out in the boat - well everyone but me anyway because nobody asked if I wanted to go & I guess they just figured that I had to look after the kids but James could go, typical - and once the boat was in the water James & Mick took Jack & my cousin Shakiera for a ride. Jack had never been in a boat before & loved it, James said he wasn't scared at all & stood up & held onto the windscreen & had a ball (he had a life jacket on of course). Just as they were turning back to come in & drop the kids off so they could go drop netting for crays some kelp blocked the breathers on the boat motor & melted a relay - my uncle Mick & his wife Janine were just putting their boat in too so they had to go out & tow them in! When they got back Jack jumped out to me & said "we got stuck out there in the boat mum!", it was so cute & funny the way he said it. We loaded the boat back onto the trailer & James & mum went out in my uncle's boat with them & ended up getting 2 crayfish (which we didn't get to eat any of) and Mick took the boat back to the shack & got the neighbour to look at it to see what was wrong with it & I took the boys & Shakiera to the bakery to get a snack & then to the playground near the beach.

We went back to the shack after that & my Aunty, uncle, nan & pa came for the day & we got fish & chips for lunch then went to the beach so my other uncle & cousin could scuba dive for some abaloni & I had promised the boys I would take them to swim & play. The beaches were covered in kelp from all the wind they had had the past few days but the boys had fun anyway.

As you can see the beaches were not that nice after all the windy weather in the days before but we had a great weekend & came home late Sunday afternoon & grabbed pizza on the way then had a relaxing night.

I hope everyone had a great Easter! XXOO

Re: Bloody men!
HAHA - you crack me up Jo...you always manage to describe it with just the right words! He is talking to me know but has not mentioned it again so we will see, I am going to do it anyway. I think he may be worried that our kids won't get as much of my attention but they will probably get more actually! xxoo

Re: Bloody men!

Hi honey,

GRRR - Men can be so bloody stubborn at times. Perhaps you should give him a little of his own medicine, I used to do this with my hubby but it never lasted long as he always gets the hint! . . . As for putting some money away, GO FOR IT, there is no harm in doing that.  Quite often I will sneak away some money, a simple $5 or $10 here and there is rarely missed and then once I have enough I announce a day out . .  Hubby is usually the first one to say yippee!

Thanks for the pics of you kids, they look like they are having so much fun even with the kelp . . Kelp never seems to last long on our beaches around here as the keen gardeners flock to grab it for their gardens. They take it home and was out as much salt as they can and then place it around their shrubs etc . .

Cheers Kellz

Re: Bloody men!

Hi Kellz! Men are just so hard to understand sometimes & believe me I will be giving his own back! LOL! He works all hours & goes to football training 2 nights a week & will be playing on Saturdays in a few weeks & has been playing bowls on Friday nights (which finishes this week) and I have not asked him to drop any of that & stay home with his kids who miss him terribly but if he keep it up I will be telling him that football is off the cards! HAHA

Re: Bloody men!

I used to look after a friend of mines daughter, and I got the use of her car too (just in case we needed to go out). It was a good little bit of undeclared pocket money. Never much and keeps the other kids entertained. Go for it. Maybe hubby thinks you will not get anything done if you have another one to look after. Males just don't know how the female mind can operate. We multi task naturally. They have to think about it. Good luck with it all.

Holiday pics look great even with the kelp on the beach.

Re: Bloody men!

Hi! I am sticking to my guns & doing it whether he like it or not..it will not affect him in any way & may actually make me get more done faster, LOL! The kelp certainly didn't ruin the fun!

Re: Bloody men!

Teshia, sounds like hubby has a bee in his bonnet about something, not sure what....sticl to your guns sweetie and put the extra money away for something special for yourself.

Good on you for winning the mystery host money, you did well getting what you wanted for nothing. I'm sure most men think   ladies that go to  these home parties have to spend something and they don't want to tell their  husbands  that they did.....gee we don't need their permission, to go to the toilet do we, haha!

The photos are awesome, glad you all had a lovely easter.

Love Janice xxxxx

Re: Bloody men!

Hi Janice! Perhaps the kids & I will hide away at your house while you are away, HAHA! Really he has never been one to rule over me, but since having the kids he has tried more & more & it's really not him or me! I have no problem making decisions together but I don't see the big deal here as it's extra money & doesn't affect him at all & will be good for me & the boys. xxoo

Re: Bloody men!
I'd be telling him to go jump! Your a grown woman and can make your own decisions!! I wouldn't be spending any of your extra money on him either!! Great photos of the kids, glad you had a good time!

Re: Bloody men!

I'm not giving in & it's soo just not like him, I don't know what he's thinking...although since we've had the kids he likes to be more "involved" in what I do - which to an extent is understandable but I will NOT be ruled over!

They are good pics aren't they...thanks!

Re: Bloody men!

If I had your hubby, I'd be telling him to grow up!  What does he think you are?  A mother robot that has no thoughts of your own?  You do what you want to, and show him that you are better than he obviously thinks you are.

Re: Bloody men!

The stupid thing is that this is not my hubby...he has never ever told me what to do or expected me to be his "robot"...I don't understand it but I am not giving in & am doing this. He hasn't mentioned it again & is talking now so we'll see how he goes.

Re: Bloody men!

All is good now I think Cazza...he hasn't mentioned it again & is talking, but Jack was in a bad way with his legs last night so he's probably forgotten about everything else for now....we'll see if he mentions it again I guess. xxoo

Re: Bloody men!

Yeah, typical men huh. Mine's like that. I think some men don't really like their partners earning money as they think they're the bread earners and want to support you and don't want you to be that dependant, but if i had to look after someone's child like you do and get paid for it, my partner would say go for it. It's extra cash coming into the house.

Great photos too Looks as thought the kids are really enjoying themselves. I had a good easter thankyou, and hoping you did too

Re: Bloody men!

You know it's so weird because James has never had a problem with me working before...before we had Oscar I worked in the local store w days a week for 3 hours a day & took Jack & he was fine with that. Lately he has been saying that if I want to work when the kids go to school he would rather me work in the pub or shop here so I'm close if something happens - which I understand & agree with, but he has also said if I can't do that he doesn't want me going back to the chemist as it's too far away & he's not having me do seasonal work like picking spuds etc cause it's shit work. I thought he would be happy with the little extra cash I will be getting & that I can be at home with the kids while earning it....too confusing for me!
