How do moms keep a daily blogs!

Comment Published at 13:4013:401 comments1 comments115 Visits115 VisitsReport

GEEZ of Petes...I had such great intentions in keeping this an active blog...instead I've become an inactive BLOB.

We've been sooooooooooooooooo busy this summer...the boys in camp and mom and dad working long hours preparing for our 4th quarter retail push!  Such an incredibly busy time.

I no longer refer to Thanksgiving & Christmas as such instead it all becomes 4th Quarter...remarkably stressful for us because we are changing a lot --our catalog design, our product mix, our manufacturers, our systems, our website (new redesign).

I just did a fun radio segment for entrepreneur listeners...if you want to listen to me...http://www.wor710.com/pages/57303.php?contentType=4&contentId=172612

Check out our new website at www.warmbiscuit.com which relaunches in October.

An Uber mommy moment

Comment Published at 19:1419:140 comments0 comments207 Visits207 VisitsReport

i was uber mommy today. Brad (my husband) was out of town so had to do the full morning drill...waking the two boys up, begging them NOT to wake the baby (3 is hard), making breakfast and lunch, getting them dressed, trying to figure out whether they needed their teeth brushed or bagging it?! shoes ON and out... Henry LOST his scooter...the only way we could get to school...dragging both the kids to the school yard, while trying to remember what time I made the first meeting at the office...Getting to school LATE. Getting to Fischer's Bird Celebration on time only to remember I forgot to bring a class treat......So BLOWN away with the all the kid's creativity that I forgot about my meeting...remembered....raced out of class. Get to the office and the elevator is OUT. climb 4 flights of stairs....winded by the 2nd floor...pissed at my pathetic self I race up 2 more flights...reach the top and feel like a 90 yr old. Get to my desk to recieve a message that my fabric guy can't carry the fabric upstairs---so recruit the young bucks in my office and we all HAUL fabric up 4 flights of stairs. So that is the 1st few hours of my day. At 5:30 I race to Henry's family picnic (with nothing in tow as I've been to a few of these by now and the other really good moms usually do too much!) Arrive look for my 3 kids who could care less that I am there as they are involved in fuseball, ping pong and pool...total boy fantasy land. Unable to keep my eye on all of them, bond with the parents on the 2nd to last week of school, I left them up to their own devices...So Wesley proceeded to eat all the cookies he could sneak off the table, Henry was climbing all over the couches and Fischer had started a water fight... I was so fragmented, couldn't figure out if I should eat, chat with the teachers, meet the parents, or be a parent...I did nothing. Wesley left crying with an ice pack on his head (fell off a chair), Henry was nearly about to implode as he insisted on having a SLEEPOVER, and Fischer was ignoring us all.

Totally exhausted ...

So ready to run back to my office!

(Re) Design Doubt

Comment Published at 16:3116:311 comments1 comments249 Visits249 VisitsReport

huh!

People read my entries...that's fun.   A bit strange not knowing who on the "other side" I am writing to...

I am in the final stages of dedesigning my web page...updating the look, making it more user friendly, improving navigation.    Finally, I have a design I love (and gotten a lot of my design friends stamp of approval) This is something I've been eagerly waiting for months to to start to happen and ....  BAMM...cold feet.

Today, I am SICK to my stomach...

Am I right?  Is this the direction I want to take?  Is is communicating the Warm Biscuit Bedding Co message? Are the colors the "perfect" shade?  Does is feel vintage? blah. blah. blah.

Go with your gut and pull the trigger....Jump.

Celebrity Babies

Comment Published at 15:0215:022 comments2 comments391 Visits391 VisitsReport

I can't stand that I know every celebrity's child's name when I can barely remember the names in Fischer or Henry's classroom!!!!!!!!!!

Seriously, I "know" the parents of Apple, Presley, Shiloh, Maddox, Ryder, Moses, Grier, Phinneous, Kingston, ARGHHH!   Ask me to name the prime ministers in the Middle East and I would fall WAY short!

What's wrong with me???  Of course, I can say there is a valid business reason for my knowing.   We try and send celebrities new baby gifts in hopes they send a thank you to the Warm Biscuit Bedding Co. and we can turn it around into a press release.  It has happened before (thank goodness some celebrities are polite!)

Still I wish I knew the names of the kid's in my boy's classrooms (not so interested in the Middle East)!

And the beat goes on.

What is the point of a blog anyway

Comment Published at 12:0812:082 comments2 comments375 Visits375 VisitsReport
Still trying to figure out this blog thing...

who reads them?
what is MY point?
how often do I write, etc?

My goal is to capture all the trials and tribulations of running a small business, while juggling the balancing act of being a mom of 3, wife of one and friend of many. I still read anything and everything to do with start up companies...Hey, I may learn a tip or two and I definitely can identify with most. So maybe people will find my story interesting.

Seven years ago, the Warm Biscuit Bedding Co. was born from the idea that my husband, Brad and I would create a lifestyle for ourselves...the fantasy being, we would do something we loved while being able to spend quality time with our kids (and each other). HA! Like many fantasies...the reality is WAY different. Not necessarily bad...just different.

Someone asked me once if I knew now what I didn't know then, would I have still started the company. I paused. And slowly answered, yes. Ultimately, I am a risk taker. And I would risk a lot to be able to spend more time with my family. So time and blog will tell, if we made the right choice!

And the beat goes on.
