I had a Mirena IUD inserted on August 20, 2008. I did not choose the IUD to avoid pregnancy, but to try to stop the heavy bleeding I had been experiencing with my periods. It worked like a charm, I must say. My cycles were all that I had dreamed about, regular tampons and a panty liner. IT WAS BEAUTIFUL !

I was no longer bleeding to death or having to take iron supplements. I did mention that I chose Mirena not to avoid pregnancy, but I am sexually active. Same guy for years, safe, and very enjoyable sex. Sorry I forgot where I was!!! LOL

THEN IT HAPPENED! In November, about the 13th,I began to bleed very heavy again....WTF! He had mentioned that he felt something while we were "sharing ourselves,"  but I didn't think much of it. When the river started to flow I decided to check the strings on Mirena. This is of course why I say the Mirena is not for a prude. (I of course had checked the strings about two weeks after it was placed in the event that "something" ever went wrong.)  Well wouldn't you know it, what did I find .....wait for it......the whole IUD. It was in my vagina. No longer in my cervix were it belonged.  I had not felt any pain. I do not cramp with my cycles and can not remember any physical discomfort. But there it was in my hand. I sat in the tub staring at it amazed then it hit me...uh wow well hum... this could mean I am pregers.

Well I have a few more days to wait to get the official pregancy test. He and I tested at home and at the doctors office, but it would have been to early. Now that my breast hate my bra, I drink coffee all day (never have before), and I am very tired( I wake up thinking about what time I m gonna nap), had a 3 1/2 day cycle that started Monday December 8th and by Thursday of the same week was over( I am a 7 "dayer" or more with heavy heavy bleeding) I am thinking that the boys will have another sibling.

Oh well! I just wanted to write about my experience to help others. CHECK THE STRINGS>>>>>If you do not want to another child right now check the strings.....
