Australian citizenship

Comment Published at 21:5821:5810 comments10 comments136 Visits136 VisitsReport
Woohoo...today is my big day. Tonight I'm going to a citizenship ceremony....Yes..It's my ceremony to become an Australian citizenship. I love this country, I feel secure for myself and my children (who were already as an Australian by decent since my husband is an Aussie). So tonight is my night.

Friday it will be my first year to celebrate Australian Day as an Australian citizen.

Thank you Australian people.....I will honor to be accepted as your citizen and use my privilege in Aussie's way like the rest of the people here.

Aussie Aussie Aussie....Oi oi oi!!!

Congrats Phio!!

That is amazing.. Wow, you must be very happy. How long does it take to get a citizenship? I've been full on Canadian, so I dont know what its all about or anything like that. I'd love to be a citizen to somewhere else!! Maybe if we move outta Canada and go somewhere else later in life, hehe

Great, great news.. I am happy to hear that!! Thank you for sharing with us :)

Congrats Phio!!
well it took me 4 years. Because I came with temporary residence visa then upgraded to permanent residence visa, then I need to stay within country for 2 years while holding permanent residence visa to be able to apply for citizenship. Luckily I was still in old regulations. I've heard that the government would change it (the citizenship law) in future.

Good on you girl!  It will have definite advantages for you.  Did you get to dress up for the ceremony?

CONGRATULATIONS!!!
Thanks EF. Yes I did dress up yesterday.....but not big ball dress up kind of thing. Anyway, a local post took some photos of all the new citizen yesterday, I'm looking forward which photo they would put on the paper. If I'm there I will cut it off and put on my scrap book.

The good thing as well, they gave us a history book about our local suburb where we live and a native plan.
