ADD & ADHD.

ADD & ADHD

ADD and ADHD are wonderful things that doctors throw about the room these days when your child is uncontrollable or finding it hard to concentrate at school. These 2 disorders are similar yet very different at the same time. I have a fun house

where my hubby is ADD (yes he still has ADD at the age of 26 and is medicated for it) and my son is ADHD.

So you have been given 1 of these for your child and also (as they normally do) given a script for Ritalin. Mmmmm what to do with it. Well when I was given my script for my son at 4 I freaked out and did research on it. I also gave my son the tablets. Since 2 years have past and a lot of research I came across these lovely natural thing called Fish oil and primrose oil.

There are several different companies that make these special capsules and liquid for our special children. They have Fish oil or salmon oil and primrose oil in it. The one that got its shot to fame was called Eye Q, Effalex is another one on the market that is big and used in children just for concentration and mental boost, not just ADD, ADHD and Autism. You get them at your local supermarket or natural health food shop, I would suggest the health food shop so you can talk to the person there and get more information about it and other things that can help you.

I have heard wonderful stories from other parents about these 2 natural ways.

The other part to this is finding trigger foods. With both my hubby and son it is certain preservatives and colourings as well as particular foods. So we steer clear of buying foods with them in it. Sadly this can also be a food group or a type of food such as gluten.

Now in the end it is totally your choice as to what you give your child. I do give my son his Ritalin every day and my hubby chose to take his Dexamphetamine every day. But it doesn’t mean that you cant give them the fish oil stuff either. I want to put both my children on the fish oil stuff.

Other things to look into is the bodies alignment. Again from other parents I chat to they find a huge difference after their children have seen a Chiropractor, Physio, reki and etc. I am looking into this with my son.

There are many web sites around with great diets for your children that cut out certain foods which are classed as trigger foods. These are very helpful to read and look for.

Below are some web pages.

Re: ADD & ADHD.

Hi matey,

Thanks for sharing this info with us all . . There are many adults out in the community that also have ADD/ADHD, what many do not relise is that ADD/ADHD is NOT just a childhood condition . . I have known many parents and adults that have had huge success with Fish Oil and they been able to reduce medications because of it . .

I would also like to add that if people are looking into going and trying Fish Oil its important to also speak to your local GP about it as well because as I said above some have been able to move onto reduced meds so its important to keep your doctor included.

WEll done on a great article . .

Cheers Kellx
