Soothing Eczema

joburkey by joburkey Standing(November 2008) (rank 454th)

As a sufferer myself of eczema, it pains me to see little children suffer from it too. Recently my friend's baby has had a bout of it. So I offered her some advice of what i do personnaly and also what my mum used to do for me. With summer

approaching it seems to be more prevalent.

Remember that babies and kids do not need as much clothing as you think they do, they are little but there is less skin surface area. One cause of eczema is sweating too much, which does occur more in summer so less clothes especially at night when they tend to sweat a bit can help.

Foods can also be triggers of eczema, which is like an allergy trigger, i have food triggers as does my friend's little one, which for my friend's baby, it's been by trial and error. For me that was initially, but there are naturopaths which can do blood tests and there are asthma and allergy specialist doctors who can also do test.

I've also found that doctors will prescribe cortisone creams/ointments which do help to stop the itchiness but I have found a product Lucas' Papaw Ointment which a natural product, which i have found fantastic to get rid of the rashes and soften the scarring eczema affected skin on myself. My friend tried this on her baby (as it is safe for baby and usually sold in a chemist where the nappy rash cream is) and this worked even better, his skin did not dry up and instead because clear and soft. this happened more quickley than the cortisone.

I'm not saything that this will work for everyone as eczmea is one of those diseases which seem to have a mind of it's own, but i know that it's worked for myself and my friend's baby. also please note that fruit allergies may be worsened if using this cream as it is made from fermented fruit.
