The Wishing Well Game

cheleinkal by cheleinkal Young Parent(August 2006) (rank 15th)
Wishing Well
You Will Need

A Rope or Hoola Hoop
Bean Bags or  alternatives  ie.   Shower Puffs Beany Baby’s

Game
The idea of this game is to have the kids make a “Nice” wish and then toss the bean bag into
the rope Circle, Hoop, or table cloth etc.  A nice wish as opposed to a greedy wish, which is a wish that is self centred and, well, greedy won’t come true, however, a “Nice” wish, probably will come true.  Children as young as 2 and a half, can learn the importance of thinking about others over themselves, which is a very important thing to learn, whilst practicing their eye hand coordination, throwing skills and counting.

Prior to each throw you may like to have older children make up their own rhymes, or have one general rhyme, spin around 3 times on the spot, just to make things interesting and throw.

Type of Rhyme

"Wishing Well, Wishing Well, I ask of you,
Grant my wish if you want to.

I wish for a happy sunny day,
Where we can laugh and sing all day."

TIP
You can try it backwards, over the shoulder throwing, through the legs throwing, standing on one leg, blind folded, etc. this game can go for a while if you have a few alternative ideas.

This is a great game for parties, and can be an indoor or out door activity.

Alternatively you and your little helpers might like to paint or colour in a round cardboard sheet, to look like a pond, complete with Lily pads and frogs etc OR use a round table cloth and use double sided tape to stick on home made lilly pads etc for a whole mornings worth of fun

I so love this
What a great idea!  And easy for indoor or outdoor like you say.  It is now in my diary ready for tomorrow.  We are having a fun day of stories tomorrow, so shall try to tie it in with one of them.  Looking for a different activity for each story...lol
Peace

Nice wishes
What a great idea - fun and learning to be aware of others at the same time. Sneaky. My art skills are close to non-existant so I will be looking online for a colouring in bicture of a frog and lily pads...
