How to stop the littlies interrupting every time you're on the phone

DarleneRutledge by DarleneRutledge Standing(November 2008) (rank 500+)

It seems that every time the phone rings every child in the house suddenly needs my attention.  Mum...... Mum...... Mum.......  !!!!   My phone conversations tended to go like this:

"oh hi so-and-so, how are you, go away I'm on the phone"

"We're doing really

well thanks, stop interrupting me"

"I saw Jenny the other day, I said STOP INTERRUPTING ME I'M ON THE PHONE"

My poor friends got used to it, but it was SO embarrassing if it was a business call lol.   Plus I didn't want to be yelling at my kids all the time and they just weren't getting the message.

Someone told me a very neat trick that works a treat - keep a cold wet face cloth with you and every time your child comes up to talk to you wash their face with it.

They quickly learn don't go near mum when she's on the phone coz you get a cold wet face out of it

That has to be the funniest and cutest advice I have ever read on the site!  LOL... I usually set my midget up with a dvd, video or a pile of stuff on the computer, when I make a call.  This will be awesome to try for an incoming call ; )

Re: How to stop the littlies interrupting every time you're on the phone

I so wish someone had given me this tip when my son was younger. I don't think it would work now that he's so close to 6, but I still need to find some way to make him stop interrupting me and also to be quiet.  But maybe I'll try it anyway!
