Good Parenting!!!

shellk by shellk Crawling(November 21st) (rank 500+)

The main reason I m writing this is not just to encourage those of us that sometimes feel that somehow we just havent got parenting down pat yet but also to reaffirm to myself that I am a good mother because sometimes I think we all need to give ourselves

are good pat on the shoulders, its not easy.  I think we all need to remember that each child is different so what works for one sometimes simply will not work for another.  I remember thinking that my first daughter was going to be my pattern for the children that would follow and then I had my second child, also a daughter and found out very quickly that I had to put a little more work into it than that but for all the sleepless nights that I have had worrying over whether or not my husband and I have made the right decisions or not have been replaced with so many fantastic memories and moments that well and truely make up for it.  I have to say that being a mother to five children has taught me so many things about myself and has given me a deeper appreciation for my mother who did it singlehandedly so to those of  that are raising children singlehandedly  whether mum or dad you are doing a fantastic job.  I guess the biggest piece of advice I can give and I have found true for myself is to really endeavour to trust yourself, if you have thought things through enough and you have a great supportive circle of close friends and family and if the most important thing to you is the health and happiness of your child or children then your a great parent and even if you make mistakes and I know I have at the end of the day when your kids are older they will know what great parents you are.  Being firm but fair is hard but ultimately that is what I strive to be.

Re: Good Parenting!!!

Well if you are a mother of 5, then you must know what you are talking about!  Thanks for sharing, I believe this is true and it is often easy to give this advice to others, yet we forget about ourselves sometimes - cheers, Lui.
