Play Zones

demonikangels by demonikangels Crawling(November 22nd) (rank 500+)

As of next July if everything is running on time, I will be the 20 year old mother of 2 kids under 1.

Trying to manage the constant morning sickness while watching an infant has already proved to be very trying on my health and patience. I have been

tired non-stop and am barely functioning at the moment.

I have a very independant first child as it is who likes to be able to play by himself, but since falling pregnant I have started to spend alittle less time with him so he doesnt notice the difference when the new baby is born and brought home.

I have a camping mattress on the floor next to my computer with his play mat and afew toys on it, and its pushed up to the glass door so he can look outside and interact with his puppy without being outside with him. My son is a very fast and very active baby for a 4 month old, and already crawls and trys to escape everything and explore everywhere.

My advice is if your floor is hard, a camping mattress is very thin so falls or escapes arent dangerous but they provide enough cushioning for the child when he/she is crawling and rolling around. They have enough room you can put toys on, and its perfectly comfortable and supportive if your child falls asleep on it. If you get a mattress with patterns on it, the child is also happy to spend hours looking at the patterns and tracing them with their hands and this provides visual stimulation.

Re: Play Zones

I think a camping mattress is a great idea. Just make sure it is filled well because you don't want your baby to 'sink' in, it could be a suffocation risk.

Enjoy your baby now, because you'll have even less time, as you said, when your 2nd baby is here. Kids are great, in that they adjust very well to a sibling. Being so young, your 1st will not know whether you spent too much or too little time with him before the next one arrives. Enjoy.. cuddles, snuggles, hugs and kisses as much as you can!
