Re: i just found out my sister who is 16 years old is pregant and she lives with me
Asked by lady-voodoo

Question:

i just found out my sister who is 16 years old is pregant and she and her boyfriend lives with

me and my partner and my 2 young children. I just need some good luck for her and me and some adives to help her and me through the hard times. i have a young family and we also are thinking of moving to perth away from my sister to better our family life. But i want to help her now cause she doesnt have any other family to help her but her boyfriend.

My Advice:

hi i can give you advice from personal experience as i was 15 when i found out i was having my first child and gave birth at 16 years old.

well first off i know you want to be there for your sister but she really needs to deside if this is what she wants cause its not as easy as every teenager thinks even with support of family and friends.

i was set on having my baby as back then i didnt believe in abortion for any reason.

after all was out in the open i had my parents support but not my boyfriends. once the baby was born he was gone.

i went through a really horrible depression stage as it felt like i was going to be stuck in a house with my unplanned baby (not that i would trade her for the world) and my parents all my life.

it wont just effect her financally, it will be physical, emotional and evry thing else you can think of.

as well as the effect it will have on you and your family.

also i was young and fit when i gave birth to my daughter i went home and was back in that night as i was bleeding and losing blood clots if i waited a extra day i could have died. i had to have six units of blood.

3 months later i went back to school to finish year ten and eleven.

it takes a strong person to be a good parent at 16 years of age and a even stronger person to support them.

i wish you all the luck in the world for you and your sister along with your families.

as this will be a great addition to your family and will be a journey that will change her life.
