should clothing be used as an excuse for sexuall assualt

rcp-432 by rcp-432 Standing(November 28th) (rank 500+)

as an answer to the above  question        NO!!!!!!

anybody has the right to be able to dress as they please and not end up being sexually assaulted for it

a woman should be able to walk down the street and feel proud that she

is comfortable about the ways she looks and shouldnt have to worry about this occurring

but these days that is not the case it has been really bad lately that a woman cant even go down the street in track pants and a long jumper and can stil end up getting pulled into an alley

and for teens these days its even more scary as more and more teens are wearing outfits that leave nothing to the imagination but still they should be able to wear these types of closing and not become a victim of this horrible crime

the nights it happened to me i was wearing long pants and a jumper and it still happened so those people that say just because you are wearing a really short skirt or shirt that shows of clevage that your more at risk of being raped

well that is not true because a person if they have picked you out as their victim then it has no difference on what you are wearing

it will happen  anyway if this is the case

the way to protect yourself better to not risk this happening is:

  • were a personal alarm on you when you go out
  • remain in a group its safer than travelling alone
  • have a mobile on you at all times
  • tell people where your going
  • learn self defence
  • dont walk down dark allies alone
  • if you are going out at night stay in well lit areas
  • be aware of your surrounding and take noticed of faces around you
  •

so dont be afraid to wear that night shirt or skirt and think just because i wear this im going to be raped because you are wrong with this comment

thank you for taking the time to read this

Re: should clothing be used as an excuse for sexuall assualt

I also believe that what we wear as women should not be judged as to its look.  I want to look good and sexy for my partner and I should be able to go out alone in the same clothes as he finds attractive without worrying about being raped.

When I was abused by my stepfather he always said it was the way I dressed that made him do it, that I was just asking for it.

Today I know that is very wrong.

The only thing that bothers me about the way young girls are dressing though is how old it makes them look and that would make them vulnerable to older boys who are more mature and have the ability to seduce our young girls.

Education is so important now and so is a strong relationship with our children to be respected for the warnings we are giving.

Good Job, my friend. Well written and so true.

I tend to forget that so many people today live iunder this fear. (I know that sounds strange with my job... but it is true). Now that I think about it though, part of that may be because about half of the percautions you mention (all of which are right on target) are a natural part of my lifestyle as a Christian... and the rest are a side effect of my calling... i try not to leave home without the phone, as there could be something going wrong in those hours. (No, that's not official on call, that's just expereince!)

I agree with all of your points about the way to make yourself safe...It is so important to at least do a couple of these things and teach our children the same...It is terrible that we live in a world where we have to think like this but we do and protection and prevention is definetly a lot easier to deal with than the possible outcomes of an assault / rape...

I also agree that clothing is never an excuse for rape or assault and although I will be encouraging my girls to wear appropriate attire for their age and the outing I also remember being a teenager and the desire to wear the clothes that were 'IN' and yes they are definetly getting smaller....So teaching them self protection will also be on my agenda....

Thanks for sharing.
