the best toys on th market for a baby 6mths +

JadieLady by JadieLady Young Parent(August 2006) (rank 17th)

the absolute best toy you can ever get fora kid between the ages of 6months and 12months is

 A BOX!!!!!

yes, a box, usually the box of a really expensive toy.

you know. you buy the toy tkae it out of the box, and bubs goe

sfor the box. its a really disheartening feeling...

boxes are awesome for a kids imagination!

IMAGINATION ROCKS!

So in short, instead of buying an expensive toy for a bub in this age group, (unless its a good educational one :) ) get boxes and less expensive toys, save your money for when your kid is 8 and wants his own pc. or she turns 15 and wants a mountain bike (or hoverboard.. whatever the rage is then)

BECAUSE KIDS LOVE TO PLAY WITH BOXES! IT IS GOOD FOR THEM TO PLAY WITH BOXES!

reduce, reuse, recycle
Our 8+ m.o. used to be the grateful recipient of each of our cereal boxes once they were finished. (I can't remember how he got hold of the first one, but it was a huge hit! Bright colours, big and light, doesn't hurt him when he whacks himself in the head... ) Last week however, he 'ate' a hole in the corner of the newest one and started making choking noises... I had to fish bits of paper mache out of his mouth. I think we're going to lay off the cereal boxes for a little while...

Not just for little ones...

The wonder of boxes continues well into the elementary years.  We got a new futon over the weekend.  It of course came in a large box.  We also worked on the kids treehouse, ie, putting the door on and screens to keep bugs out.  Which won in the battle of the cool things to do?  The box or the treehouse?  The box of course.

what a crack up!!
I laughed my head off....this is so true.  Sometimes we spend so much time trying to think of the next best thing and spending all our hard earned money when the simple things are often the best.  Children see so much more than we do.  Look outside, we see the trees, the houses...they see the little bugs and the funny shaped clouds.  good point jadie
