Supertooth Says

supertooth by supertooth Talking(November 2008) (rank 144th)

Supertooth says "Everyone leaves food on teeth after eating. It is best that food does not cause some acid demineralisation of teeth". Friendly foods like nuts, cheese and celery are good to chew before and after eating to prevent unfriendly foods being left on teeth.

I was about to say this is good and ask for more information, but I notice you have replied to the comments below.

It would be possible (and useful) to add this content into the article itself ... just click on edit in the top right hand corner and I am sure people will find it much more useful.

Supertooth also advises to chew fibre like celery after eating to help saliva dilute trapped sugar, neutralize acid and remineralise demineralised tooth.

Re: Supertooth Says

Many foods left on teeth after eating, contain carbohydrate like sugar and starch which plaque bacteria on teeth change to acid which demineralises tooth.

Though most food is left trapped between teeth, over 80%of cavities occur inside pits and fissures where saliva and fluoride toothpaste and mouthwash, have no access.

In my research I found that chewing traps food displacing previously trapped food and some foods like nuts and confection are hard to displace. This suggests that cariogenic foods should never be consumed at the end of a meal or alone, such as a between meal snack.   Also Chewing noncariogenic food before and after eating will limit meals or snacks that trapped and may be cariogenic.   Chewing toothpaste on a suitable medium before brushing gives better fluoride access to pits and fissures where the brush cannot reach. www.ndk,biz/red
